When searching for tools which would help creating better chord progressions remember that music theory (and any tools based on it) explains only what have worked in the past. It won't tell what might work in the future.
I know there should be a fantastic chord progression somewhere, which will make me a star someday.
Circle of Fifths -- a "recipe book" for chord progressions?

This is an interesting thread verging on a lot of fascinating and useful topics far afield from the 'Cycle of Fifths.'
It amply demonstrates differences in approaches to theory and practice and the difficulty many gifted people have in understanding that not everyone is able to think (probably as well) as they do.

I just picked up the latest issue of Sound on Sound... has a great primer on "applied theory". Suggests some very useful shortcuts.
