What I mean is, if I set resonance to max and sweep the filter, it starts losing resonance above about samplerate/10 or so, and becomes more or less flat at around twice that (maybe a bit higher but anyway, no resonance at very high cutoffs).
The resonance roll-off is absolutely intentional. I think it sounds great - musically. It's required for stability too. The filter goes increasingly unstable with high resonance as the cutoff goes up.
Well, just wanted to check. I'm sure the stability part could be fixed, but I can certainly understand why the behavior could be musically useful.

After tweaking the synth a bit, what bothers me the most is the linear decay-curve of the envelopes (especially for filters); I don't really like how it suddenly stops when it hits the sustain. Would be nice to have exponential decay (and maybe release too) as an option.

I just have one problem with your synth : it doesn't work under wine on Linux. Don't search why, it's too tricky to sort that. Anyway, the demos are nice.

I see what you mean. I like it as it is, kind of jerky, on fast slopes. I've used that on many presets, but especially on slower slopes a smooth transition would probably sound better.

Thanks!

I have tremendous respect for everybody making music on Linux and for the devs who are designing and writing the software. I love Linux and use it for everything except audio development. I'm sad to hear my synth doesn't work through Wine. :(

It can't be anything really hard to fix. The synth isn't doing anything that exceptional (i'm assuming most plugins work through Wine?). The GUI does all kinds of things with the mouse pointer that are quite unusual. Is it like completely dead - no load, no sound, or is it just the GUI?

The GUI is ok, but when I hit a key on the midi keyboard, there's just one audio crack, and nothing more. And don't think most plugins work through Wine, it's completly unpredictable.

Actually, we dont. :)

Since for some reason Kaira doesnt cease to fascinate me i kept at it and noticed that the undesired wave-over-compressing at the sweep-peaks can be quite well counter-compensated with a (modified) second instance of the patch. Set it one octave higher, phase-shifted it a little and did some other minor tweaks and now it is actually pretty good. (Plus i have the added harmonics of the higher octave.8)) Its about 90% there, but i had to call it quits for now. Im pretty sure i can perfect it, though...

But whats more important, this made me realize how much Kaira would profit from a setup similar to Sylenth1, where you have (technically) 2 synths on 2 pages. I wonder how much effort it would be to clone that concept, so that you have 2 instances of Kaira in one. Couldnt you just add 2 tabs, (A/B), and sorta double the whole deal? The possibilities would be awesome no doubt. You could call it KairaX2... 8)

Ok, sounds a bit obscure. Hopefully i get to fix this someday.

Great! Let me know when it's out. Do you make your own synth sounds or use presets as well?

Hi, works fine in my wine setup, I'll PM you some details to compare in a minute.
Cheers

Hi, thanks for this marvelous instrument, with a flowchart and detailed attractive
website. Thats how to release a product! So I think we must kidnap you, before Native Instruments does :hihi:

This works in my wine setup, and the sounds are marvelous. I can see that having
a numeric values display on key features, would be a great asset, and a held key-press
to invoke extra precision on some controls would help the preset designers that will likely flock to Kaira, to achieve the maximum sonic greatness. Gotta go, I hear a nervous wind blowing...
Cheers

Glokraw, you make me feel nervous...tell me your setup. Mine is jack2 under ladish, 48000Hz 256samples.

Cheers, and don't be nervous, they only let us use blanks in here,
until we become marksman :-o

as for the synth, there will be lots of good loop material one can create with this,
since there appear to be lots of slow releasing sustaining sounds, used one with
a jaunty synth1 arp, the two instruments are a good match, with differing sounds.

Works great with Diversion and Tunefish also! :) They sound very different but blend nicely. A bass sound i made is the best one i have ever made :D The self oscillating resonance can be so cool in the highpass!

You've done awesome work my friend :)
