I've tried it out. The samples ARE pretty good. THE PROBLEM isn't the sample, it's the poor scripting. It's got serious problems with note offs. The CPU is OK then suddenly it will glitch to 100% for a millisecond (usually when several when note offs occur at once).
Shame really. I suppose it will get fixed, but I found it unusable unless I mixed a part out, it was terrible live. Also leaves me to believe that what your listening to ISN'T actually from the Kontakt Instrument itself but a live player. I had my suspicions when I was watching the video. Why would you show/have a live guitar player in the video, playing EXACTLY in time with the song/music that your (pretending?) to show is being played through a sequencer (it looked like Cubase or Nuendo's MIDI editor). It looked highly suspect to me. I compared the sound from Kontakt to the one in the video and while the sound was similar, the definition, clarity and nuances in the video where FAR MORE realistic than what the library is capable of (to a trained ear), even though (as I said earlier) the sampling is quite decent.

Several hundreds of users do not complain about the errors. The script is very complex, but nevertheless it all works fine.
As for the video-demo. On the one hand, thanks for the compliment. After all, you do not believe that the sound from Kontakt ) It's funny.
But you just blame me, I cheated all users ? You accuse me of dishonesty !
I doubt also that you bought the library, otherwise you would have written about "problem" in support on our website !

I have been on the fence about buying this. Demos sound great, but how great does it really work? And if there is some problem how helpful and open is the dev?

Hi David!My name is Günter, I am the autor of the "poor" Kontakt script.
Your post is simply incredible.
A) Performance issue
You have experienced CPU spikes and blame the script to be he reason. If you have had made your homework you would have probably noticed that this spikes also occure long after a note has been played or released and at this time there is no script processing going on. Analyzing this behavoir I found 2 reasons:
1) Convolution reverb
The convolution reverb in Kontakt is - depending on the IR - very CPU
demanding. For better performance turn it off.
2) There seems to be a bug in the group settings causing several groups -
although having the same programming - to use up to 9 times more CPU.
To elimnate this problem go into edit mode, select all groups and in
the source module set the HQI to standard. This problem will be fixed
in the comming update.
With this 2 changes all your performance problems should be gone. On a PC I7-920 the CPU usage after the changes is about 1% and less then 2% max. (check with the CPU profiling mode in Kontakt).
B) In the second part you complain that you are not able to reproduce the quality of the demos and accuse Ilya to have cheated. IMO this is simply bold.
There are users who have been able to create professional results (i.e. Rob Elliot (http://www.vi-control.net/forum/viewtop ... 24&start=0 (http://www.vi-control.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20424&start=0)). Sample
libraries are tools and you need to know how to use a tool. A tool doesn't make you a better musician. If you are not able to create professional results I have only one advice: practice.

Well, I think what we are having here is a failure to communicate. It is obvious that the DEV and Author aren' native English speaking folks and perhaps are feeding the flames towards they being perceived as arrogant.
I wrote the DEV an email months ago before or right at the time the product was released/announced (I forget which) and asked a question on how these samples would respond to a MIDI guitar.
Apparently they don't but if I posted his response you could have taken it as arrogant (which I did not) because I do understand that there is a much bigger market for "keyboard" controllers versus a MIDI GUITAR controller and I haven't found any of the guitar sample packs "mapped" for a MIDI guitar controller. So, no big deal.
Now, on the other hand, I could be giving the DEV the benefit of the doubt and perhaps he is very arrogant but I reserve judgement until I learn to speak Russian (or whatever is his native tongue).
I know that I wouldn't care too much though if I purchased a sample library and it wasn't working as advertised that the DEV should be going out of his way to help or to make things right.

I always do everything possible to support all our users as soon as possible. I am always ready to solve any problems, as well as I am ready to return money! BUT, I will not answer to people who didn't buy out licensed version!
By the way, some time ago, one user was asking same questions on my forum that are being asked now. He was blocked. I state once again—I DON'T SUPPORT ILLEGAL USERS. The rule is simple - no pay, no use. SO, if a user is complaining that the library does not work correctly, and he didn't buy the product, he will be blocked. I think it's a kind of a payback for not following a simple rule.

as a former classical guitarist, there is one thing that I have yet to see addressed with a samples library: the ability to decide *supported stroke*, aka rest stroke versus free stroke. In any performance on the instrument, this is a definite consideration. if you're going to play a monophonic passage, supported stroke is usually done. if the string that you'd support the stroke with is active, obviously a no-go... but, a classical guitarist might use a supported stroke say on a top part while doing a bass part, it's a louder and rounder tone... it's a certain approach... you're not likely to do supported strokes with the thumb and another finger plucking simultaneously... in any case, a single note passage is typically done with the 'rest stroke'.
I haven't considered problems of implementation, but I have yet to see it mentioned in any lib's literature, and no one has answered this when there is a new lib and present it here when I ask.

The demos sound incredible good! I'm a logic 9 user and there are some people complaining about CPU issues when using this library! Are there news on the CPU issues? Updates?

I use it a lot... Can't say I've noticed anything excessive on the CPU front. If I have a lot of tracks running and the CPU's giving me trouble I tend to bounce the CPU hogs to audio anyway, I then mute the midi track in case I need to tweak later.
Both Acoustic and Nylon are fantastic sounding with very nice strumming engines. Most people can't tell the difference between them and a real guitar in a track.
PS I'm a Logic user.
