I can't speak for Indiginus' Acoustic Guitars as I don't own it, but after picking up their superb Torch electric guitar over the weekend, it's definitely going to be one of my next purchases. They do really good work and the bang-for-the-buck is unbeatable in my opinion.StickyWicket wrote:I have the same question.....is the Evolution acoustic guitar worth the $179 or would the $40 Indiginus be a better route?
what is the best ACOUSTIC guitar vst instrument ?

I'd never heard of Indignus until this thread. Just visted their site, both Torch and the acustic VSTi look really interesting.DrApostropheX wrote:I can't speak for Indiginus' Acoustic Guitars as I don't own it, but after picking up their superb Torch electric guitar over the weekend, it's definitely going to be one of my next purchases. How did you get along with the StrumMaker in Torch, DrApostropheX? Have you tried creating any of your own strumming patterns? (If so, isn't the limit of three user presets potrentailly limiting?)
Also, what else do you like about Torch?

I've only had it for a couple of days, so these are just my initial impressions: the sound quality is very, very good. I like that it was recorded with all three pickups simulataneously, so you can switch between any pickup switch position you want on the fly (without having to load a new instrument). The mutes sound nice. There's also a lot of nice touches like the release/note-off samples which sound just like someone taking their fingers off the strings.lingyai wrote:How did you get along with the StrumMaker in Torch, DrApostropheX? The strums, individually sound excellent (I haven't used it to play any leads yet, since I just got it). The strum engine, which sets voicing, number of strings played with each chord, mutes, etc. is really very advanced especially in this price range.
To be honest, since the Strum Sequencer only seems to be sequencing the strum direction and velocity/duration of each note, only having access to three user locations isn't a limiation since you'll probably wind up composing your strum sequences in your midi sequencer using the different keys for up/down strums, and fine-tuning the velocity and duration to get what you want. So if you make some patterns in your MIDI sequencer and loop them, you have access to unlimited strum sequences.
The included effects are based on the Kontakt built-in effects, so it's putting it mildly to say they're not as good as a dedicated amp sim, but if you don't have an amp sim, they sound decent enough and will at least give you someplace to start from.
But what is REALLY fun is when you set the MIDI output of Kontakt to some other synth (like AAS' String Studio or whatever acoustic mandolin sample library you have around) -- and this is done pretty easily in Reaper, but may be more difficult in other hosts -- and use the strum engine in Torch to drive your other stringed instrument sounds. So really, for the investment you get a great sounding sampled guitar and a strum engine you can (possibly, with some effort -- Indiginus is pretty clear that this functionality is NOT supported) use for your other libraries.

That is very nice - both the track and the video. I've got Indiginus ACG and the OTS acoustic libraries, but the Efimov bundle has really grabbed my attention - you may have just pushed it over the edge.Dr.Wu wrote:i like the Efimov guitars. Great sound, great script.

Thanks for that very useful mini review, DrApostropheX (may I call you DR X?). Sounds like a very cool instrument. Especially using the midi output to strum other instruments.
Oh, by the way, do you know if the presets are key switchable?
If only there was something other than Real Guitar which has picking patterns as well...

Does Efimov have any equivalent of the Indignus strumming engine? How about any picking engine? I emailed the dev about this but never heard back, so I'd assumed the answer was no...cryophonik wrote:

Both the Nylon and the Steel come with a strumming engine. It works pretty good and comes with some really cool patterns including arpeggiated ones if i remember correctly (not in the studio ATM)

Would you mind checking when you get a chance re the arpgeggiations? I've looked at the pages for each product and don't see it mentioned. Also, are the strumming patterns customisable? Finally, what do you mean by ATM?Dr.Wu wrote:Both the Nylon and the Steel come with a strumming engine. Sorry to ask so much, but I didn't see a link to any manuals on his site, and as mentioned, he didn't asnwer my email...

That's OK - if I had a dime for every time I stared at a link without seeing it, I could buy you a copy of the total Efimov bundle.lingyai wrote:

Anyway, I made up my mind - I'm buying the total bundle (for myself) this evening.
