To be honest I'm surprised some company hasn't jumped on this yet. Some seem to be dipping their toes in the water, maybe not totally convinced of the iPad's prowess as a weapon & tool in the music tech arena?! The Apps available should remove any doubts. The iPad is crying out for better connectivity & integration. So far the Alesis IO dock is the only device that has come near to satisfying this requirement ..... Actually (adding to what I said previously) if the IO Dock had of been a separate unit, instead of a docking station, it could have worked with the iPad, iPhone & iPod touch! Bit of a wasted opportunity. If you think about it what is the benefit of having the iPad sitting in it's own dock? Especially when you consider that it can't sync to a computer whilst docked! Anyway, clearly their is a void waiting to be filled

Basically what is needed is something like the Presonus AudioBox series, with a dock connector instead of a USB cable. Combo XLR+1/4" jacks and MIDI. Docks are stupid for reasons you've already stated, as well as the iPad's form factor changing over time. Devices using the headphone jack are stupid because of inherent audio quality issues, when compared to a proper dock-connecting interface.

I am baffled why no company has made this happen.

Can you share any info on the iPad version of Sampletank iOS? Will the difference be mainly in the user interface, or will there be more sounds available?

Whaaaa?!!? They told me they were expecting them this week & to pre-order to ensure I got one. Sneeky buggers. I've already canned a pre-order with them once. I'll wait until this thing actually turns up somewhere before buying again

I was going on the assumption that it has been developed for IOS 5 which won't be out for another week or so, hence the delays. But if it's already out in Italy, then my assumptions are wrong.

Congrats on iRig MIDI and Sampletank for iOS - both look great. We just released Alchemy Mobile which is Core MIDI compatible and therefore should work great with iRig MIDI. Therefore would be great if you would include on your compatible apps page: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/irigmidi/mo ... leapps.php Could you have a word with whoever puts that page together and ask them to add it?

iPad has been the music making device for some time noe. Not the iPhone.

Right now we have SampleTank iOS FREE on the way, shouldn't be too long.

My iPod Touch, iRig MIDI and MPC will be best of friends now too!
