Dmitri! Please don't disable modulation of those parameters you mentioned! The sounds you can get are insane!!! Naturally the first thing i did after reading your post was to try them out :hihi:
Once you release the key and you only can hear the echo/delay there's some artifacts to be heard.. but that's alright :) You just opened up a whole new dimension of your synth for me!

This is just my interpretation when i play it, they way i like to play it. Not a replica!

I was wondering if it is intentional that volume snapping in the MSEG section (octaves) is to adjust the range it affects the modulation destination. Even with 100% modulation it is not noticeable if you set "1 octave". I assumed it would be like snapping for the 1/2 .. 1/17 and Time.

Just noticed that the bus stereo knob next to the filter drive flips the stereo image when fully left and right! Awesome!

I don't know if I have any use for this beast, but I give you this: The sound is awesome! I'm trying to limit my studio to a few workhorses, and I don't really have use for this one now.

The level snapping in octaves intended for use with OSC pitch mod destinations. The plugin prescales the generated envelope to allow precise pitch control. With "1 octave" snapping the mod range is spillted into 12 steps, each of which corresponds to semitones. "2 octaves" splits the range into 24 steps, and so on. You could use such snapping to define tunes within the given octave range for an OSC without touching ARP. The "STEPS" or "SMOOTH STEPS" mseg curve mode is good in combination with the pitch snapping. But the octave scaling is incompatible with the normal scaling for other mod targets. It is six times lower for "1 octave". Only with "6 octaves" snapping you have the usual non-prescaled modulation range.

Yes, the stereo knob for filter allows splitting the cutoff of the left and right filters. So, processing both channels with different filter settings alters the stereo image. For the lowpass filter type effect is similar to usual stereo panning. The effect varies depending on the selected filter mode.

In energyXT you can see all the automationable parameters in a list.
Looking through it i see that Diversion1-01 KeySc is there twice.

I was trying to find a way to change the pitch of osc with automation as i ran out of modulations :hihi:. The first KeySc doesn't seem to do much (i cant hear any difference in the patch im working on at least). The other KeySc does affect pitch, but only the amount on how much it is affected by what key you play. In this case it works well, but then again you probably have learnt what kind of horrible audio demons im trying to squeeze out of Diversion ;)

Ever since i discovered goa trance in 1994 (or so) i've always been interested in the psychological effect of audio. While it's easy to have it adjust or amplify moods like happy or sad, what intrigued me was the almost narcotic effect it could have. How it could let you slip into a meditative state that was hard to get out of.

Oh, yes. I'm sorry for duplicated names. VST SDK allows only 8 chars for parameter names. Sometimes it is hard to push the name into 8 chars. The first "Ox KeySc" stands for "OSCx Filter Key Scale" and adjusts the osc filter's sensitivity to pitch. The second one belongs to "OSCx Key Scale" and determines oscillator's reaction to pitch. I'll try to resolve the names further. Also, I think it will be good to add another one page to the mod matrix.

You could try one of my favorite approach to design inharmonic atmos. It is pretty simple. Set different values for keyscale parameter of two oscs and try to FM or RM them. Waveforms with a poor harmonic content are the best here. You will get an always out-of-tune sound. Moreover the timbre is automatically changing for different notes played. So, you can easily design a perfect source for an atonal atmosphere or an industrial drone. It is a real narcotic. :)

Just purchased, great synth!!

sches, one little thingy here, could you make the presets scroll by up/down buttons. It would be more convenient than clicking by mouse.

Just wanted say that I got this synth and it is incredible. I love it! The last time I was that impressed by a synth was when I bought Zebra years ago.

I'd like to bump this old thread and go on record here, saying that I was an ass when I first demoed it and was dismissive of the sound. I bought Diversion three weeks ago because I was so hugely impressed after giving the demo another go. The sound still has a tendency to head towards the cold, pristine territory, but that's all in your hands as a sound designer (and is simply a reflection of the sound quality). The workflow is awesome, the oscillator sections are a dream. You can carve out interesting tones at the oscillator level, before even heading towards the wonderful filter section, which features a lot of types that are all hugely useful and different. This is one of the most versatile synths I've used, and while the CPU use is high, the rewards are well worth it. I could go on about the quality of the effects (fantastic!), the MSEGs with useful grid snapping and timing options that make setting up rhythmic variations a breeze, the cool and helpful GUI, the creamy, biting, squelchy and raucous filters and distortion types... but I won't - maybe I'll write a review later. I'll just urge all synth lovers who haven't given this baby a spin to check it out. It's like a cross between Zebra and Massive, certainly one of the few soft synths that have the potential of being an all-round workhorse with bags of style and character to boot.
