Not a knock on Nexus, but I'm curious to why does it cost more than any other VSTi that I've ever seen. Is there something in the engine that no one else has? I was considering getting it, but my wallet will suffer.

The only one that i've seen of this price is Komplete 8 Ultimate but I can't say that's comparable.

If you think its worth the cost, pitch in your 2 cents and convince me.

I am neither for or against it.
I believe the "for" is that the sounds are ready to go out of the box - you don't need to tweak or even compress them. Just play and worry about another part of your piece. So it makes sense for song writers/composers who need quality sounds instantly without tweaking.

Or at least that's what people say :)

When looking into it, really love the organization and thought it was better than a lot of synths out there.

There's also a lot of bundle deals on major sites that seem tempting.

If 3xosc is floating your boat, then I imagine you don't need Nexus at all. It seems like a songwriter's tool, not a sound design tool. Besides, 3x osc is free in the host.

100 percent correct.

If you cant fit these sounds from Nexus 2 into your mix there must be something wrong.

Admittedly the expansion packs can be a little xxxxx ie ( pricey ) but Manuel Schleiss from Vengeance Sound has proven time and again what works in a mix whether trance or electro.

In the very near future Nexus will become tweakable/programmable and also 64 bit compatible so go along and enjoy the ride.

Xmas will be here soon so go and get your discount on sound packs .

Most vst's are around the 149 -249 mark so Nexus is very high quality Rompler.

Plughugger just knocked up 400 plus sounds as his first tweakable soundpack for 25 usd. Credit card coming out again today for second time. F---k the budget.

My apologies. Plug huggers nexus bank is actually 10 euros which is even better value.

the plughugger sounds are amazing!

I bought Nexus used for a good deal with about 18 preset packs as well, and I really think the plughugger sounds top most of those packs.

highly recommended.

looks like I will be buying those presets for 10 euros! I was trying to resist.

I think if you are going to spend this much on a software synth might as well get Omnisphere because you can do so much more with it and it sounds really good. If Nexus was more programable I would probably recommend Nexus because it has more of the sounds I like but in reality you can make pretty mcuh any sound in Omnisphere. Like others have said Nexus is great for working fast and that is how I like to work, so that one works for me as well.

I have Omnisphere, and it is really, really powerful. but it doesn't have the modern presets for dance music. Not like Nexus does in spades.

oh, and those presets are totally worth it!

I actually was stuck on a song, and then I exchanged almost every sound for a plughugger sound and now this new version is on of my favorite songs and will find it's way on my new ep

It is expensive cause there is V, like vengeance. Everything where Manuel touch, turns on gold, at least in price aspect. In english, they are over priced. Not only nexus, but all the sound banks, samples and plugins too. Manuel iS Da ReaSon! Sleep time, peace :D

NEXUS: Why is it so expensive?
Because it comes with a massive factory, which is also ready to use, or as already said "out of the box", on a high quality level, packed into an easy-to-use interface with a stabil running machine inside?

Post

Because enough people will pay that price to make it profitable.

We do not think 249€ is that much for a synth, which comes with 1000 factory sounds are 5gb sample library. Its quite in the middle field of the market prices. But everyone have to decide this on his own :)
I do not think you can compare it with 3Osc btw, since thats really something very different

I dont know if 10€ are that cheap for this one. Remember: What you get there is just factory sounds, with a muted layer, a different cutoff, or a switched on/off Arp. Nothing new, or better said: nothing which you do not have already in the factory library & could not be done by yourself in very few mouseclicks. Nexus² is not made for deeper sound design - thats a fact. Nexus3 will be, but it will not come in the "near" future. We are not sure yet, but I guess some years from now. :)

Manuel,

I just assumed from previous threads that Nexus 2.5/ 3 was a lot closer than we thought. No dramas as there is plenty of life left in V 2.

Still one of my faves.

Cheers
