When Nexus3 eventually comes out then it's time for many expansion packs by me haha.
Also if Nexus3 will be opener, you will defintive didn't have the change/possibility to edit ALL, or loading own new samples in there. Maybe a very deeper access as in Nexus2, but surely not the options as with the SD-version. Which is quite logical, would Nexus3 completly open, with expansion maker function etc, shortly after the release, a mass of 3rd party expansion would overrun the market, and surly a big amount of them would be bad, more worse as the official expansions. Which would automaticly colouring the quality-image of the product ifself negativ.
I'm not sure 3rd party expansions sets, expecially made by talented people like Rob or the dear Doctor would bring less quality than the factory content. Actually I just think the opposite

...
Without a doubt, it would have a positive effect, surely some really god 3rd party expansion would came out - how said, without a doubt, but also next to the good ones, defintive also some expansions, which would be qualitive more lower as the official expansions. -> that was my point, not to "attack" someone or something, no worry ;)

If you hold the concept closed, like ReFX doing it, you can be always be sure, every available expansion has a good qualitve level. But with opening the format this point will be erased, because it's than not more completly in their hands. And an also important point - currently all expansions are only availabke through ReFX, so all expansion sales going to ReFX(+ V-Sound), by opening the platform, defintive many Nexus user would buy more 3rd party expansions, and the official expansions could suffer on this.

So what would you do as developer? Hold it closed, and have the full control and proceeds, or opening it, and losing the quality control, surely an amount of sales & co?

The best would be in my eyes, if ReFX would open the platform but in a selected way, so for example, the sounddesigners which would be interested in there, could make an application, and if it looks good in the eyes of ReFX good, they get the SD version. And maybe next to this, the new 3rd party expansion's would be only saled via the ReFX website etc, this would be a good compromise i guess.

1. How many Nexus(es) do you use in a single project?
I usually have 10-20 instances in a song.
But I'm wondering if each kit piece has its own volume/pan/filter/reverb control
no, since Nexus is not made for Multi Outs. But you can control every single sound via the velocity. This works really good. But in most cases its not necessary, since the kits are already mixed together quite well
The big photo on the Nexus 2 product page confused me
:D Its just a 3D rendering of Nexus. There is no hardware. Looks quite real, dont it? :)

well thats exactly the way, its done atm

we definately WILL Open the engine with version 3.0. But as I said, not in the next years. First there are other products, like Vanguard 2 for example, which need to get finished

Was there not something to read in the V-forum, about a prototype of Nexus hardware controller? Just for you & Refx? :D

IMO it would be the same in any case whether your using Nexus2 or another synth.
You would need to open as many instance of various synths that is needed in your project.
10-20 instances of Nexus2 or 20 instances of various synths is quite normal for a song

actually we are looking for a hardware developer, who could produce some few prototypes for showcase use. If anyone knows a good company for this, just contact us.

Last time very popular for his ImpOscar 2 controller...
Specially the MC20 controller could be there interesting through iPad usage, iPad as touchdisplay for the Nexus2 display - would that not be cool?

I bit the bullet a while back and bought Nexus2.

If I would have just saved up and bought nexus 2 before buying a bunch of more inexpensive plugs, I could have saved a ton of cash!

Just ask yourself a simple question: "Do I want to compose, or do deep sound design?"

Since I'm still learning sound design, Nexus2 gives me what I need at the time I need it, no deep tutorials on synth programming needed.

That being said, there is some tweakability to nexus as far as the layers / arp and effects go. So you can change it up with a few mouse clicks.

And, for Orchestra / Film? Forget about the super pricey single purpose east west stuff and just pay the $64.99 to get Hollywood expansion. Unbelievably affordable and GREAT sounding!

Nexus is a composition tool, and a VERY inspiring one at that :)

(BTW I do also like to tweak synth sounds, and I have plenty of U-He and NI synths for that. Dune and Sylenth are great too. DCAM is amazing, etc etc)

Thanks. Already mixed together quite well? That's great.

I was very impressed by the demo track. Since I only create orchestral stuff from time to time, $64.99(or less during the upcoming sale) for the pack is a very good deal for me. How about the Dance Orchestra expansion? Is that good, too?

Yeah, I know what you mean, but the reason why I asked this particularly about Nexus is that I think it's possible to create a great-sounding track using JUST Nexus(I don't feel like using 10-20 instances of just Mono/Poly or Rapture).

I move to the next/previous synth window using buttons on my MIDI keyboard controller so when there are 10-20 instances of the same synth I have to check the window or preset name to see which track I'm working on(unlike when there are 5-10 various synths).

Is it possible to apply a different skin color to each instance of Nexus? Silver to drums, black to a bass, red to a guitar, vengeance to a piano for example?(I'm going to buy it even if that's not possible, though. I can't resist the sounds of Nexus.)

I want to compose!:harp:

I really don't think the Hollywood expansion is in the same town, much less the same league as the East West etc stuff...it is at best ok for dance music, but not for film scoring, unless you are going for the cheesy sound...

This

and

that

that said nexus is good at what it is suppose to do. and I will probably get it in december as well, but lets not get carried away here.

my two cents
