Yeah, I mean...if I seriously wanted to do orchestral stuff, I'd go for the East West one or some other orchestral VSTi.zvenx wrote:lol. I sure hope you are joking

But nexus is not a virtual instrument (in fact...).
And who makes music with this one?
(except some...)

Does anyone know the answer to this? If yes, I'm gonna buy extra skins during the sale. Not much variety, though. There should be more colors. Dark green, light blue, etc. Actually, all skins should be free.I wrote:Is it possible to apply a different skin color to each instance of Nexus? Silver to drums, black to a bass, red to a guitar, vengeance to a piano for example?

I think so... I am sure I saw something on youtube or maybe on their site that says you can, and someone used it that way to remember which instance was playing what role.J'lien X wrote:Does anyone know the answer to this? just to clarify I wasn't saying nexus is shit... nexus has its role and does it well, I wasn't simply pointing out for it to do realistic orchestration isn't one..redislandforever wrote:lol! yeah I know... easy to say nexus = shit.zvenx wrote:

Last night i got hold of an old email where i had registered my Refx Plugins. Word of advice, store your email settings where you can find them for several years. I downloaded and installed Nexus 1.4 with three libraries. To honor this thread i made a track just to see where i would stand.
Copy/paste from the description i wrote on soundcloud
"Im not pretending this to be an amazing track, but listen to how the mix sounds. This is done by me, someone who hates mixing! The track is based on a simple one note buzzy note, a gated pad (actually a lead played like a chord), a bassline and a improvised pianoline somewhat hidden in the background. Then there's a simple kick, clap, open hihat and a ride taken from WA's Drumtools sample cd (which is GREAT!).
Mixing was done with TB_EZQ and STRIPBus on all tracks and the piano and kick got a touch from RP-Distort (thanks guys!!! I love it!). Master buss was StripBUS and Molot.
All done within an hour. A simple D minor and a piano melody + Nexus and some drumsamples and this is what you end up with. It went so fast my soul didn't have time to get attached to it. To me it's just notes, nothing more. But with some work i guess it could bring me some money in return.
It was Nexus 1.4 used and all sounds was from the standard bank. Apart from the piano where i tweaked the resonance and cutoff, i think everything was left untouched. Oh yeah, added trancegate to the lead.
If i was eager to get tracks out there to pay my rent then i would be all over Nexus 2. Personally i prefer the slow journey through complicated synths full of dead end experiments.
I find it hard to hear what is going on in the mix. And since it sounds like that when working out melodies and rythms, it's easy to get lost. Easy to hide cr*p when it (=the sounds, which you didn't make) sound so good."

Now imagine how good it would sound, had you put more time into it...
Finally!

I'm looking to buy something on the higher end at christmas and after listening to some of the expansion packs like hollywood, I'm putting Nexus on the list.
Is there much though or enough to cater for R&B / HipHop and Urban style?
Dance orchestra sounds great too.
