Any news on the RAM problem?

Post

The rep hinted it will be out when it's ready, as lots of work is involved, so
enjoy the free amp, and new releases until it's fully tested and
ready to be released into the wilds. Amplitube V4 Memory Master Edition? :)

Post

Seems early for a V4.

I'd better see SampleTank 3 before, and next T-RackS 4.

Apart from the Black 76 and White 2A (that will be enhanced later with input gain stage modeling), we haven't seen any new gear model.

Maybe amps are easier to model, don't know.

Just saying...

Do we know that these are going to get enhanced or is this just conjecture? I certainly hope so, as I feel there is room for improvement with these two (the 670 is easily far more complex a model than either the 1176 or LA-2A and I'd certainly like to see the latter two upgraded to the level of the former).

Great job with the JC333 100! That thing responds like a real amp! Clean when strummed softly, and roars when you dig in. Excellent work, again, guys! This is what I've been waiting for in an amp sim and you nailed it.

It's a major re-write for all AmpliTube 2 era models, and requires extensive testing that would have complicated and delayed the release of the new Custom Shop gear.
Brian, will that rewrite change the tonal behaviour of the AT2 era models?

Well, from a IK representative on their forum.
While the input stage plays only a small role in the overall sound and character of these units, we do intend to add the input modeling, though I don't know when that will come. Most likely it would be an option you could enable or disable in the preferences.
They may even add that to the 670. How cool is that :D ?!

Do like the ENGL demo btw, Amberience. Only wondering why you didn't remove the C414 if you don't use it at all to save on CPU power (even if only minimal).
I just spent a year developing a Pokemon online game, so can you keep the TCG chatter to a minium?

just downloaded and installed it; no difference in RAM usage.
At least they're consistent in ignoring the issue.

In this very (two pages) thread:
Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote:We're doing the RAM saving mode in the next update which will follow very soon, most likely as a stand-alone update that address just the new RAM handling. It's a major re-write for all AmpliTube 2 era models, and requires extensive testing that would have complicated and delayed the release of the new Custom Shop gear. This way, we are able to focus all of our testing attention to making sure the new mode is rock solid.

Ah, my bad. I assumed the question meant it hadn't been mentioned yet.

Well as infamous Admiral Ackbar once said in Star Wars:
"IT'S A TRAP!"

And I (amongst other users) clearly fell for it.

You have to admit that the custom shop is somewhat like a TCG system that sucks you in (like a child usually until he/she realizes it's a waste of money). Unless you shell out money for the bundles and save big time. Take it how you like it, clever move from IKM - bad for the addicted ones.

Hence my pleading to offer fair bundle deals at some point (for example for all mics, or certain stomp/rack or amp/cabin combos other than Jimi/Metal/AT3).

Then again, just my 2c.

I think IK's painted themselves into a corner a little bit by announcing each new bunch of gear models constitutes a .x version. Will that name convention be sustainable over the long term? I guess it depends on how many new models they release and how frequently. Doesn't really matter what it's named though.

Still better than the linux naming braintrust, using tribal unity, hat style,
or raw japanese seafood, as titles, with workflow like

jackd to rosegarden to zynaddsubfx to rakarrack to calf, to timemachine to audacity to brasero to aqualung, to make a cd of mp3s to relive your noodlings when everyone still sane is finally asleep. :)

Yup. And I am one of the "addicted ones"
