Upgraded. S1 Pro replaced Cubase for me. This is the one DAW that feels like Cubase if that makes any sense. Downloading now, hopefully get to give it a decent test run. I didn't notice any mention of being able to freeze tracks.

I'd just be happy to try the demo!

I think - given what they've just pushed out and checked off the list - it's probably easily the #1 feature request now and I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the relatively early 2.x cycle.

They're really just getting started with the 2.x cycle so there is (per Jon) more stuff to come in what is in his words... "... a brand new phase for us."

They were (apparently) kinda working with that "fall" deadline for release so I can imagine there is probably some cool stuff on the table 70-80% done that didn't quite make it in 2.0.1.
It just makes it hard for me to decide whether to upgrade though - I got burned enough by the Sonar X1 upgrade recently with them deciding to make a basic feature that should have been in it from the start something that required me to pay twice for.

regardless of anything.....99 bucks to go from artist one to producer 2 for 99 bucks is pretty much a no brainer.

But I'm confused about the "professional" upgrade because if you go from producer to pro 2 its 99 bucks but it's 299 to go from artist one to pro 2?

Seems you would upgrade to producer 2, THEN upgrade to pro 2 which would be 198 instead. Is there something I'm missing??

I'm sad as I was hoping that I will not spend the money on it. I was so wrong.

I hear you. If past history is any indication you won't have to pay again here until 3.0 but yeah, you'd still want to know it the 2.x cycle will give you that.

I'd wait a week or so until things calm down a bit and make a polite inquiry on the forum again. There is lots of support for it from some others like user "SaintJoe", a hip-hop producer guy who's been pushing hard for it so if you frame the inquiry the right way, Jon may chime in with some general info, dunno.

The demo is good for 30 days anyway so it's not like you have to pay right now.

Is V2 close to Cubaseish? Is Cubase still deeper? How much? Howcome? Why?
Eh?

I personally struggle with lack of MIDI track for hardware. Ie there's no dedicated type of track for a hardware instrument. Atm you can control it via instrument track but it lacks few essential controls. I have enquired PS and we'll see what they'll tell.

I want to ask this question with all due respect, and lack of provocation. This is more to satisfy my curiosity, and not to wind you up. 8)

But... why exactly does it have to be that you route an instrument into an audio track? I just don't quite understand. In the render window, you can choose an instrument buss to render down, and import to a track. Or you can now right click on an instrument track and choose "render instrument track" which will retain the settings in the cache, so you can recall the instrument and insert effects.

So I guess I'm just looking to understand what it is you want to do?

My 2pence - I thought when I switched to Studio One over a year ago now, that I would miss a bunch of Reaper functionality. I haven't missed it at all. I'm recording my bands album with it, and it has been by far the easiest experience I've had DAW-wise. 8)

I think I can work this out for you. If I can I'll post the solution back.

Upgrade from V1 Pro to V2 Pro is USD 99. But as far I can see Upgrade from V2 Producer to V2 Pro is USD 199.

Maybe you didn't change the section from "Studio one Version 1 to 2 Upgrades" to "Studio one 2 Upgrades" when chosing to make the second upgrade *hopethismakessense*

May anybody put here the whole new feature list, please.(for S2 Pro)

Ok... here's what seems to be best case. This assumes your hardware midi devices are plugged into dedicated hardware inputs. To set it up...

1. Make a new bus channel in the mixer and insert Pipeline on it.
2. Set the Return on Pipeline to the inputs where your midi hardware is plugged in.
3. Turn the "Offset" knob on it fully left and turn the "Mix" knob fully right.
4. Name the bus channel in the mixer after your hardware synth.
4. Drag that mixer channel into the browser to make a new preset.

Now all you have to do just before producing with that hardware synth is to drag that preset into the mixer for the audio return. It will always use the same input(s) that the inserted Pipeline plug is receiving on.

If you have a hardware synth with 8 outputs or something, make 4 channels set to 4 pairs of stereo inputs or whatever, you can drag all four presets in at the same time the same way.

As to track midi controls, you can bring those out yourself with automation, without actually turning automation on. Bring out volume, pan, whatever you need to the track panel and you'll have a slider there for sending CC data to the hardware.

Ah, I think you are right.

Ok, more investigation is needed.
