And iPad 2 has 512 megs of ram as well...
As far as storage goes...
On my iPad 1 I had the 16 gig one. It was fine, and really all I needed. When I got my iPad 2, I went for the 32 gig. I have like 20 gig free, and really don't need the extra space.... but, I don't store movies, ton's of mp3's or mega games on it. That being said, I would probably get the 32 again, simply because I like not having to worry about space.....

FWIW I just about manage with the 16gb version - if you use iTunes on a Mac or PC all what you bought is stored on there too so you can delete an app from the ipad then put it back on when you want. So big games get took off mine when not needed etc.
Also use VLC to play 'normal' avi files as these seem smaller than apples video conversion AFAIK.
Video is the main storage problem on smaller ipads in my experience.

Thanx forall the good avise, especially JavaJ
I will get the 16 GB version. I won't store movies or many mp3 ( I listen to music via iPhone, not the pad) on it, so it wil surely be enough.
Gear envy will surley be a topic when iPad 3 is released, but I have to stick to the iPad 2 for two years because I combine it with a vodafone contract. I get 2 years internet flat plus iPad 2 cheaper than the iPad itself for normal price through my company, so it's a pretty good deal.
again thanx for all the great advice to everyone who contributed !

Internal storage is really insignificant, what is really important is the operating system memory which btw is way to small on iPad (256MB) and even iPad 2 (512MB).
That memory is really what makes a difference.
Hopefully iPad 3 will have at least 1GB of this stuff...

Don't forget to pickup the Camera Connection Kit (2 white dongles for the iPad- 1 with USB, the other with an SD reader).

With ICloud you just get 5 GB for free. Upgrades are €16 p.a. for 10GB, €32 p.a. for 20GB, €50 p.a. for 80GB !george wrote:Most stuff will be in the cloud soon (your music, pictures, etc.) so I'd recommend 16 GB unless you want to record lots of audio or video with it. Then buy the highest you can afford.
