Few questions
How do you do "cut selected area of items" edits in studio one? (like in reaper)
I like to use reaper for practicing along with songs. I drag in a song and loop a section I need to work on and slow the project tempo down so I can practice difficult parts. How do you do this in studio one?
How is the comping in studio one 2?
How is the freeze function? good?
Is there a way to drag a midi part in the multitrack view and have it repeat the midi part? instead of copy paste or whatever? in reaper I just drag the right side and it will repeat the parts if I want by default.
Is there a way to accent beats 2 and four in with the metronome?
Thanks!

This is a very neat way of duplicating/looping in Reaper but unfortunately it cant be done in S1 v2. I think you can only duplicate multiple times with the [D] key.memyselfandus wrote: Is there a way to drag a midi part in the multitrack view and have it repeat the midi part? instead of copy paste or whatever? in reaper I just drag the right side and it will repeat the parts if I want by default.
I've had a bit more fun with the demo & so far I'm liking the melodyne integration, especially how easy it is to convert audio to midi. This was really handy for me, being a guitarist who plays some keyboard (I'm getting there) & the melodyne integration is really snappy. One thing to take note of is that you need to have the VST3 version installed for this to work.
I'm very close to hitting the buy button but I was wondering if melodyne essential audio to midi still works in Producer? Can't really afford the Pro version right now, I was hoping that there may be an upgrade promotion somewhere down the line because I'd really like the mastering option of Pro.

Yeah, there are lots of goodies in there. For instance, and I keep forgetting about this feature, but did you know that you can drag the MIDI clip(or an empty clip) from an instrument track into the browser and it will create a .musicloop file, which stores the MIDI, the instrument, an audio preview of the instrument, the instrument settings, and all plugins on all the instrument's channels with their settings? Scott mentioned it on the Presonus boards and it just reminded me to use it, as even I overlook it.
It's not perfect yet, but it's a killer and super easy implementation!

The only thing missing in SO2 is a better Synth (VSTi). The actual one is good but I would like something better with more modulation and waveforms. It would be awesome something like Thor ^_^

Studio one 2 comes with Melodyne essentials. I have that already. Is
there any need to download the Presonusversion of it ?

Probably not if it's already version 1.3

There are. Melodyne is only one new thing.koolkeys wrote:Yeah, there are lots of goodies in there.

If you spend some time working with it - love it or hate it in the end - one thing will probably be pretty clear. While they had to duplicate some functionality per user request (Groove Quantive, Transient Editing, Comping, whatever) all of it is really accessible, right on the work bench and none of it negatively affects the workflow. That seems to be the ultimate goal.
Need a new browser tab for your drum sample folder? Drag it directly from Win Explorer to create a new tab. The overall paradigm is... easy.
Some of the new things are clever and original (Internet download directly to arrange with progress status on the track? I've never seen anything like it) while other things are copies of existing functionality from other places laid out a little better than in some of those other places. All of it is (imo) intuitive and immediately accessible. You don't have to go looking for any of it and despite that, there's still no GUI clutter.
So there is a method to the madness. Features take time in any case. Well thought out implementation of features probably takes a little longer.
P.S. Did anyone catch the new Fader Mode option? Touch and Jump. What this does in "Touch" is it keeps you from accidentally clicking in the wrong place and moving a fader you didn't intend to move, you have to explicitly grab the fader cap to change volume. I turned it on as soon as I saw it because that happens to me all the time.

One question, I have Celemony Melodyne essential already, but can't find a way to make it work in-line in Studio One v2.
Any ideas?
Btw, I'm really toying with an idea of getting the full Celemony deal (with DNA) and getting S1v2 too.
It looks sweet and has kinda well understood workflow (coming from Cubase and PT). However, I've crashed the demo a few times already...

... I believe you have to make sure that the VST3 version is installed.soulata wrote:One question, I have Celemony Melodyne essential already, but can't find a way to make it work in-line in Studio One v2.

(also might be worth double-checking that you have the latest version installed... not sure if there was a new build released after the ARA announcement)
