Of course there IS! I'm glad you asked!

The settings under the "Settings" tab are GLOBAL settings. Therefore, change the engine settings there so all instances are affected.

For rendering I'd suggest:

BEST quality
SHORT buffer size (so envelopes, LFOs are rendered at better quality)

For tracking, I'd suggest:

DRAFT quality
LONG buffer size

ehh my computer I can set it however I want

I am so glad I invested in a 2600k processor!

If you dont tag, they'll be untagged. What's the issue?

While saving just add 2-3 letter prefix and SM will at least add the intrument category automatically. Also for attributes SM will add auto-attributes.

any chance of making the switch to draft/long automatic if the host sets the offline flag (i.e. things like reaper when rendering)

I still dont know how the VST host notifies a plugin of offline processing?
If anyone can help me with that I will surely add that immediately.

looks like full blown offline mode would take a lot of work to implement

however if you just want to keep reaper users happy supporting the cockos extensions and supporting/honoring isinrealtimeaudio() would be quick and easy (would also mean you'd switch to hq settings in anticipative mode which would be cool)
