Hi Big Tick,
I really love what you are doing with Zen. So to support you I bought the audioMidi version of Rhino. What a great deal, thank you.
After installing the latest hotfix for Rhino Zen is working great with Rhino, except that it does not automaticly add the extra banks to the presets that you own.
When you import presets from the extra banks you get a message that the preset allready exists but is different. These are the presets that you can buy online...
Then there is a problem with the CPU usage of Rhino on my P4 slave running Reaper.
While playing Rhino is well behaved and uses 10 to 20 percent of the CPU. But when you stop playing Rhino starts to use more and more CPU power. Sometimes it takes all the available, and then more, processor cycles. Obviously Reaper then crashes.
After investigating the problem on the web I found a post about this bug:
Huge CPU spikes with Rhino VST...!
http://www.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewtopic. ... 9ed46f3083
The Fishphones normaliser plugin did not help, but what did help was turnig off the DC remover in the fx section of Rhino. Now Rhino goes back to 2 or 3 percent when you do not play.
However in Zen all the Rhino patches have DC remover set to on.
So could you please make a Rhino hotfix that tests if it is running on a P4 processor and then disables the DC remover?
thanks for the great software, Alfred

Hi Big Tick,
just reading this thread:
Alloy for Rhino (updated to version 2.2 - bigger fonts)
and I see that this old CPU usage bug is also
manifesting on the Core2Duo processor...
Do all Intel processors have this bug?
Will start testing Rhino for you on my other systems.

Big Tick,
sorry for the wrong info...
my core2duo running rhino suffers the same problem as the P4. It only takes longer before the CPU starts crunching the allmost zero numbers.
With the preset Bump in the night, after not playing for half a minute, the CPU usage goes up to 30 to 40 percent. When you switch off the DC remover the use goes back to 20 percent. But then when you play some notes again, the CPU goes back to 2 percent in rest.
There is definitley something wrong with this near zero division bug.
Hope you will be able to iron it out soon, so I will be able to run Rhino on my netbook.
