Don't quote me on this but I wouldn't count for this to happen within the next 12 months.

If you can, save up and buy in a couple of weeks. Or just keep an eye out if someone wants to get rid of it (I doubt so but you never know).

I hear you man. So no Cubase or Nuendo or S1 or Vegas (which also needs QT for those vids) will be used by you because of Quicktime. You're probably not the only one who feels that way.
No, I'm using these programs (w/o Vegas) constantly but for audio and MIDI only. Video is done by a dedicated computer with a Linux based custom solution. This works fine without installing malicious crapware like qt on any of the systems. I'm not using Vegas because I think a company that installs root kits on audio CDs is not trustworthy enough to allow access to my personal data on my PCs.
LawrenceF wrote:I was only clarifying the "no video in S1 on Win" thing which isn't true at all.
I was only pointing out that there is "no native video in S1 on Win" and that S1 requires the installation of 3rd party products to be able to display videos.

What are the chances of maybe a $99 special offer upgrade price at some point? I have artist & know about the upgrade to pro 1 then pro 2 via audiomidi & as much as I'd love to, its just not an option for me right now. I'm sure I could swing the $99 upgrade for producer, just wanted to hear what you opinions might be on it first?
Your other option would be to get the upgrade from Artist 1 to Pro version 1 via audio midi. That way you get to use the best bits, but you can upgrade to pro 2 at a later date. That's assuming the price from Pro 1 to Pro 2 stays at $99.

I havent seen it stated on Presonus site but the resellers have the $99 Pro 1 to Pro 2 marked down from $199. Which suggests its normal price is $199 and it will probably go back up at some point.

I checked the presonus forums and it saw it's going to be $149 to upgrade from Pro 1 to Pro 2 from December 1st. Thread here: http://forums.presonus.com/posts/list/195/13293.page .

There seems to be something wrong how s1 handles system rights in windows. It wants me to re-registering a bunch of plugins , that are working in other Hosts. In addition, sylenth1 giving me randomly this " thank you for try....", but its correctly installed and registred. Iam running my Hosts mostly on my admin account, i know that hasnt full system right, but its realy odd, that s1 needs that. When i run as Admin, my soundcard isnt working....

Same here with iZotope Trash/Spectron (64bit versions of plugins) - show status unregistered (although license exist on dongle).
No problem for iZotope Ozone4 (32bit and 64bit works fine here).

Oh crap - I don't like that marketing approach. It means I have to take a gamble on whether the features I'm still missing - free routing and better automation - will appear in the v2 cycle, something Presonus may not themselves be willing to even commit on. When I took that gamble on Sonar X1 it ended up backfiring.

Rule of thumb for software: Buy features, not promises.

I found the solution in the Presonus Forum:
If you are on Windows Vista, or Windows 7 make sure you run S1 with admin privileges as some plugins might require that to be registered or work properly. In order to do that, right-click on the S1 shortcut and choose -> properties -> compatibility tab and check 'Always run as adminstrator'.

This probably old news to everyone but I found out how to "record" multiple outs from Superior Drums to S1/2. I was trying to add audio tracks and use the outs of Superior as inputs to the audio tracks and of course that didn't work. Then I tried to explode the midi track notes to separate tracks and then transform them to audio and that didn't work. I was sort of cursing under my breath thinking, "are you kidding me I have to buss each of these outs." but again I was wrong. The simple way is to export stems with the multi-outs you want checked along with the import into session checked. Voila! Really easy.

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

Yes, well sampletank still wants to be re-registred, its weird since everything is set up on my admin account.

Well this is disappointing, no video in 64bit :( Just when I figured I could use Cubase to import OMF and then export as XML to S1...

Aaargh, sent them a mail, hopefully they consider implementing something other than quicktime...

Hey Dan,

Yeah, stems gets that done. You can also bounce directly from arrange if the midi parts are separated on instrument tracks. The latter can have a benefit, especially if you've cut out the empty space, because it doesn't render the empty space. It's much the same except stems always gives a contiguous file and bounce only renders where midi clips are.
