Hey Tansunn, I think if my idea was implemented into EEG/EAG K4, then I think it would fix your problem...

Whatever else it does, when strumming the GUI needs to display the chord that is being interpreted from key input and played, preferably with tablature like AAS Strum and certain Slavic competitors. This makes collaborating with guitarists several tons easier since you can then just read off the tabs and write them down.

+1 it would much more convenient than current trimmed down fret with numbers.biomuse wrote:Whatever else it does, when strumming the GUI needs to display the chord that is being interpreted from key input and played, preferably with tablature like AAS Strum and certain Slavic competitors. Yup, it displays a full fretboard view, with proper graphics indicating which frets are held as well as where the fretting hand position is, and which fret the capo is on (if you're using the capo).

That's fantastic! I've been hoping for exactly that kind of implementation in EEG. When do we get to use this?Gregjazz wrote:Well, recently I added in articulation morphing--which is really awesome because it takes the current amount of velocity layers and articulations, and really helps them blend together with this new aspect.michaelbanin wrote:Hi, Greg! What's the progress in making updates? Can't wait!:)

I'm not sure when it will be complete, but I'll give updates on its progress. That's the way it goes when you're a perfectionist.
Right now I just finished the interface for the built-in effects, which includes virtual stompboxes, amp/cab, etc. I've also finished the guitar fretboard view as well, so the interface is coming together nicely.

Could it be ability to set strum speed more faster than it is implemented now. Maybe it is just me, but sometimes I feel that strum speed is not fast enough even if set Speed knob at 100%. For example some strums in demo "Evolution Funk Guitar" on OTS site also look slightly slow for that tempo, the gap between separate strings especially on muted chors feels too long. But again, I am not guitarist and maybe I just feel it wrong. Opinions?

Sure--I can make the strum speed wider in general, so both faster and slower.
Things are coming together well, I'm going to be working on the legato/slide capability soon, and then the strumming after that.

Thank you, Greg. It is better to be able set more extreme value and realize that you pushed it too hard rather than constantly doubt "what if I ever could turn that knob even more?"Gregjazz wrote:Sure--I can make the strum speed wider in general, so both faster and slower.

For those ones who doesn't received the newsletter from OTS:
"We also coded true dynamic morphing in articulations. That way the differences between dynamic layers are completely smooth."
That's really cool!
The name "EVOLUTION" makes sense over and over...

The Evolution engine is still pre-alpha, but it feels and even sounds like a completely new library. I'm going to be sampling a bunch of impulses from guitar cabs, so the built-in guitar effects section should actually sound pretty good--and it makes it very convenient to get an instant guitar tone without loading any external plugins (although you can easily bypass the these effects, too).
I still have plenty of work to do, with the slide/bend system and the strumming palette/patterns. But so far, it's progressing really smoothly.

The spring 2012, or later? I think it's a lot of things to do for Greg to complete these epic updates of both guitars.Gregjazz wrote:The Evolution engine is still pre-alpha, but it feels and even sounds like a completely new library. Right now I'm working with the electric guitar samples. Once the engine is done (which will mean that the update for EEG Strawberry will also be done), it will be pretty easy for me to drop in the acoustic guitar samples. I'm keeping the future in mind with this new engine, so it can already support guitars with more than 6 strings.
Right now I just got the adjustable tuning (you can tune each string up/down an entire octave) as well as the capo--and you can see the results on the guitar fretboard graphic. The tuning and capo also will apply to the chord recognition. In terms of strumming chords, you'll have the option to either strum the recognized chord, or strum the held notes.
The difficult part about being a perfectionist is that it makes ETAs tough to figure out. I'm aiming to have the update done by the end of the year, but it all depends on how smoothly the rest progresses.

Part of me wants to say take your time, Greg, get it right. You've got a reputation to think of, yada yada. But a more vociferous part says I want it now. Perfection can wait for the next dot rev.
