It's kind of not necessary since there won't be any timing discrepancies to edit and once you assign the different drum mics to different outs you can process them in the DAW mixer any way you like, but for some reason I like mixing with all audio files. Probably a throwback to when VI's weren't always reliable for playing the same thing the same way all the time.

Gotcha, I figured it'd be an easy thing to miss. With superior2, I usually just use it's internal rendering, as I tend to monitor without the bleeds while putting everything together, then turn on the bleeds set up the mixer (if necessary), and then do superior's internal render, and drag those audio tracks in.
I think like Lawrence said, you can explode the midi to pitches easily (for stuff like hats, that use more than one pitch, you can stack these objects onto a single track and merge them all), and then render them that way.
I'm honestly not sure how stuff like the bleed or ambient mics would work in that case, though.

Quick question, does anyone know what the benefits of upgrading to artist 2 is (from artist 1).
also, does anyone know if the '4 vst' workaround still works?
thanks!

You mean besides getting transient detection, groove quantize, audio quantize, Melodyne access, the track lists, the new comping, Soundcloud download, per-item FX, multitrack midi editor, detachable editors, etc, etc?

Uh... not really, sorry. :hihi:

Hardly seems worth it :-o

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

I hear (didn't look myself) that the upgrade is $10 so yeah... tough decision. :hihi:

yeah, Lawrence's tip was right on. After I get Superior as I like it (making sure that I have set multi-outs in Superior as well as S1/2) I explode the pitches to tracks and then use ctrl/B to bounce them all to individual audio tracks. Works great!

Lawrence - thanks for being such a cool Studio One guru and being on hand to answer all these questions... jolly decent of you sir!!

Here's another one...

I'm playing around with control link and only seem to have one parameter window visible on the main song page. The parameter window that shows my control surface knob CC info is missing, so I can't control link from here. The two windows are visible inside the vst plug-in window so I can map assignments fine from there, would just like to be able to do it from the main song page. Can you help?

A tip on "Explode Midi by Pitch" for drums:

Make sure you have a drum map loaded and also, erase the source drum track's name field, make it blank. That way, when you explode the pitches you'll get very clean track names with no prefixes and similar.

If you don't see the second black box in control link it's because your screen resolution is too low. It doesn't show on my small MacBook either for the same reason.

i presumed that most of these were only available to the 2 higher value packages and that artist would still be fairly crippled (melodyne, soundcloud certainly seem to be)

but yeah, $10 wont break the bank, might as well give it a swing. I never even got around to installing the first one (just got it in the recent no brainer) so im not that familiar with v1 tbh! :)

ah, ok. thanks!!

My bad gamecat, Artist doesn't have Soundcloud. Most of the rest is there though. Here's the chart...

I was having another play with S2 tonight and I'm slowly getting to grips with it. However, I think two things which it needs to make it a really killer app for workflow is a step sequencer and a beat sequencer like cubases beat designer. Impact is a nifty little beat sampler, but it would be great if there was a simple way to bosh out patterns that was a bit more intuative and easy to use than the midi pattern editor they have. Perhaps the Geist CM edition coming out this month could be the answer to my problems....

I installed the demo couple of hours ago... And I'm really, really impressed. I was using cubase 5.5 till now... but seriously starting to think about workflow "upgrade".

There's just one small thing that I miss from cubase and that's the middle-mouse-button-pan mode. Is there such a functionality? :)

should work, though it's the opposite feel
