I guess I'll start with some disclaimers. My apologies in advance for not having proper transition effects. I honestly haven't had the proper time to devote to this
Secondly I guess I am off the mark for the most part with this contest, I don't aim for wildly cool atmosphere effects (yet) I'm still just trying to get a general overall decent level of production before I go super creative, so this is again a very basic track.
That being said...
alphuris - feelin good
*Edit: Host is ableton live 8
12 Charlatan tracks
1 kick
1 snare
1 HH
1 clav-ish
3 different bass sounds
1 chord melody
1 effect (intro/outro)
1 main saw effect that triggers two pass-thru saws
Everything but the Bass and Saw effects have a dedicated roughrider compressor, one bass track also has epic verb, clav has epic verb, effect has epic verb. The drums also all bus into a send with density mk11 on it, the saws together bus into a send with a roughrider for all 3 at once, master channel has a final denisty mk11 and a LoudMax to tie it all together.
Hopefully it shakes an ass or two.

LOL! You saved our day.V'ger wrote:So I had to scrap my "Winds of Himalaya" track, doing a song about waves instead now..
Wait for our evolving tune. No wind, no wave but crash and some massive wall of stacked Charlatan sound.

Cheers for the entry, but I believe the TB stuff is now payware so you might want to replace those before the deadline to be 100% legit.

Nice you managed to finish an entry, but not totally sure about ValhallaFreqEcho as it's basically an audio pitch shifter with echo which creates modulation effects:
http://www.valhalladsp.com/valhallafreqecho
"Sonic results range from subtle chorusing and double tracking to barberpole phasing and flanging to endless glissandos and runaway echos."
What do others think?

I used it in old submissions and never had a problem or a mention before.
Anyway, no chorus here, or flanging, or phasing, i'm just "modulating" the echo, not the direct sound from Charlatan synth.
I practically made the same with ET-301, which "modulates" the filtered echoes sounds, not the direct sound itself.
Anyway, if there is any problem i will delete the track, no time for change it right now.
Have a good day

I'd say given the way the rules are written, this sounds like it would not be allowed: "... chorusing ... phasing and flanging". But I, personally, think that some amount of chorusing effects could be achieved by using 2x or more synths and modulating a micro tune on one or the other, so I dunno exactly why they'd be disallowed in the first place if other similarly annoying/hard-to-attain effects like reverb are allowed. And, of course, I would not want to be unable to use reverb.V'ger wrote:ValhallaFreqEcho ... What do others think?

But it's still a modulation effect which would be against the rules, and not fair to others who resisted using them. If it wasn't commented on before, it was only because I missed it, nothing else. I knew you used ET-301 delay before, but you said you didn't use the modulation part of it.
Using the synth to create modulation effect is of course highly encouraged, squeezing as much as possible from the synth itself is what it's all about.

I believe that the spirit of OSC lies in allowing the use of " freeware" only.
If the use of the freeware (phaser, flanger, etc,.. reverb, compressor) alters the sound, then that is the consequence of using effects (provided that it is a freeware). To me, as long as it is a freeware, it should be allowed. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Besides, too many restrictions could drive people away from OSC, instead, let us focus on the music making side. Just my 2 cents.
Cheers,
g7
