I made a little demo to show off some hoovers but i thought it wouldn't be fair to bring in samples for the drums .......

so i created drums in diversion and im kind of impressed with what i came up with

The melody is inspired by dj vaxweazle's track i heard many many years ago. It got stuck in my brain has been ever since

I tweak the x/y on all drums but the kicks. If you use the patches you can tweak a little better, i just recorded some random stuff.

Hopefully it wont bust your brains

Funny thing is... I remember when i first got Diversion how i thought i couldn't make drums with it .. it just didn't work.
The problem was that i used the conventional ways, the way you do with a normal subtractive synth.
But screw that .. tweak, tweak and tweak some more!

Hardcore is nothing i ever do, but i thought it was fun to try out

Next time ill try to do something more in my territory

How's the OscFx's going?

Also, just so you know, Diversion works perfectly in Orion. Not sure how common that host is to use. Lately i've been working more on (re)designing the mixer in it. You can add your own graphics and knobs .. lots of fun for your creativity!

Yes, there is no problem to design drums in Diversion, all types including hardcore kicks. To make presetmaker's life more interesting I added a "Click" waveform to Diversion. It can be perfectly used to create kicks and percussion. Instead of classic pitch slide on sine wave you could use a click wave with a fast resonant lp/bp/hp filter sweep and with a drive. The only deal is to find good timings for envelopes. Here is a fast made example:

Also you could check the "SFX Precussion 02" preset in the library. It is a click-kick with a high freq hiss. I think, it is a good demonstration of Diversion's flexibility.

The click wave can be used in variuos cases. You could use different sets of allpass, comb and usual filters with many modulations to shape click's spectrum to create many types of percussion. And don't forget LO-FI, it is the mostly used FX here. Unfortunately, I have no enough time to make examples.

Maybe a bit later.

And finally, the click is a good tool to visualise frequency response of any module both inside and outside Diversion. If you are using any spectrum analyzer then shoot the click and pass it through any desired module (filter, reverb, etc). The spectrum analyzer will show the frequency response of the module. Very simple, isn't it.

There are series of built-in features and many things I need to talk about. It may not be so obvious, but Diversion has much wider sound design capabilities than a basic subtractive synth. I'll try to show them all further, but I still have a lack of time. I hope you have enough patience
