I hear you. That's 1.25 seconds of your life you'll never get back.It just seems clunkier than in for example Logic or Live, where you have a track selected and simply or double-click to load the instrument to that track. I didn't see any direct load to a track.
You're very welcome.Also, once an instrument is loaded, how do you replace it? I only see remove in the right-click context. It seems like everything is multiple steps to do simple instrument loading/replacing. Am I missing something here too?

Yes you are missing something. It's all in the manual. Anyway, I'm not exactly sure how a single drag/drop to start playing an instrument immediately is "multiple steps" (?) but everyone has their own subjective impression of these things.
I'd say if it feels klunky to you compared to Ableton or Logic, walk away from it. Or at least read the manual a bit more.
