Bought it just because it has virtual midi. As is, $1 is exactly what it is worth IMO. Lacks features like envelopes to stop the samples from clicking. Effects changed are not remembered when saving (iPad 2, iOS5) and the onboard samples are of doubtful character in my taste. However I am going to transfer some of my own processed samples and get something out of it worth 1 dollar, so no regrets....yet.Insaniac wrote:How about Sample Lab for $1?

By clock syncing it to other devices. I have already tried starting BM2 from within Samplelab and they run fine together. Will try out genome, bassline, funkbox and MoDrum now but in principle they should work fine. samplelab can not be the slave but it can be the master when clock syncing.Insaniac wrote: And how do you intent to use VM with this?

Edit: Important. I used Midibrigde to connect Samplelab to BM2
Edit 2: No I didn't . They can connect without Midibrigde.
Edit 3: I am so full of crap. They can only connect by Midibridge and this with a certain latency. It does not works as good as I thought.

I withdraw my statements. Samplelab works like crap on my iPad 2. Maybe it is iOS5 but none of my virtual midi devices recognize samplelab's output ports, so I can not sync clock it to anything. It's time-stretch algorithm is really crappy too, so I got myself a real 1 dollar regret now.IncarnateX wrote:By clock syncing it to other devices.Insaniac wrote: And how do you intent to use VM with this?
If it had worked like intented, it would be worth it, but now I urge you to give your dollar to charity instead.

For quick capturing of sounds into beats, I much prefer RealBeat, a much more 'toyish' app and with no virtual MIDI or other fancy stuff, but so much more fun and intuitive to use. I wish for some sort of hybrid between SampleLab and Realbeat, that would be a great app.IncarnateX wrote:I withdraw my statements. Samplelab works like crap on my iPad 2. i regret buying Rebirth. it's really buggy on ipad 2 with iOS5 and everything is too small on the ipad screen. i like Korg iMS20 though. I also regret buying garage band, it's a good app, but if I can't export midi tracks created with it, then it's pretty useless for me.

I loooove Rebirth. Did not fancy it before I got my iPad, but now it is a fav. Did recently upgrade to iOS5, so I got nervous over your report here. Fortunately, it seems to work fine on my iPad2. Can you describe some of the bugs you are experiencing? I will try to recontruct some them then, to see if it works on my system.patlag123 wrote:i regret buying Rebirth. it's really buggy on ipad 2 with iOS5 and everything is too small on the ipad screen. i like Korg iMS20 though. I guessed wrong, because only someone so green with home recording would whine about the iPad's music-making capabilities, hence my assumption. Those of us who've been doing it since the Portastudio days would realize the potential of this device. So by saying it's not suitable for music creation, we're also going to have to assume that the Portastudios/Fostex devices, old ADAT's, etc. were all useless too.Mushy Mushy wrote:You guess very wrong.polaris20 wrote:I guess you didn't start making music at home until recently ?
Exactly. The fact I cant think of another one is half my point.polaris20 wrote: Giving one anecdotal example of one shitty band does not a conclusive conclusion make.
The fact that you can't think of a band/artist that's done anything worthwhile with an iPad is irrelevant, because you're one, anonymous person on the Internet.

It is very capable. Of that I have no doubt.
My point was, and still is, the software isn't there yet.
