There are several new features in iOS I'd like to take advantage of for my existing and forthcoming iOS music apps, but I don't want to leave my users behind.

I uprgraded pretty much straight away.Seems fine so far.One or two issues with apps that haven't been updated yet but ok otherwise.

means a complete ground zero for your apps and files dont it? took far too bloody long to repopulate my MP3's last time the damned thing f**ked up a sync, aint gonna volunteer for the process again unless i have to so my answer is...

'not until the next time it gets wiped accidently anyway'

nope

synchronise your idevice to itunes before upgrading to ios5

install i0S5

then resynchronise your Idevice with all the apps you want on it

you keep all your saves

I was afraid to lose everything I did and about no more multitouch support on ipad v1,

but seriously it was a bit time consumming but totally unpainfull : it just adds some functionalities to the ipad v1 in fact (and its seems most apps are ios5 compatible now)

I'm glad to see so many people going for it. I guess this is not a risk-averse crowd. That makes me feel better about making my next round of updates iOS 5 only.

Thanks to all those that responded.

If your sync before upgrading goes well, it's a no-brainer.

Go for it! Love MidiME, gets used a bit here. Interesting to see what you're cooking up.

Upgraded to ios5 on the moment it became available and didn't have too many problems. A lot of apps had sent out updates a few days before and I think nearly all of them have had an update now.

Upgrading to Lion is a totally different story, won't be doing that for a while...

Had my IPad 1 connected with iTunes today. Only shows me update to Version 4.3.2.
Would I have update to 4.3.2. first or could it be that iTunes needs to have an update ?

Thanks! I've got a lot of work to do still on my new app but I think it will be fun when it's done.

I am always late to update my iOS. I like waiting things out until I know things work. There were several issues with the iOS 3 update where many games no longer had sounds or would not start. The problem is, many games are no longer supported/updated.

It sounds like all of my music apps will work on 5, but some games may have issues. I do plan on upgrading sometime this month, though. And if certain apps don't work, then I'll live with it.
