I suggest that you add site link to your signature - it will be much easier to find the synth...karrikuh wrote:Hi all, thanks for electing Charlatan for the latest OSC!
Just want to let you know that version 1.1 is out which fixes parameter automation in Cubase and Orion (the latter would crash when attempting to select a parameter).
Btw, congratulations

Great synth,- I'm using v1.1 since yesterday, but don't get MIDI Prg.-Changes working in Cantabile lite (latest build)w/ any MIDI keyboard controller over USB and physical MIDI,- p.ex. Kurzweil PC361 or Roland/Edirol PCR300.
These keyboards work w/ other VSTi and realtime MIDI Prg.-Changes here.
Any thoughts ?
Can't find any adjustments I probably missed.
thx

Holy F***
I just downloaded Charlatan a few days ago! This rivals synth one as the most capable free VA yet. Instantly programmable as well. Just some tweaking of the presets give amazing results. Nothing complicated here, just hugely rewarding stuff.
Phat Basses are amazingly easy to do on this too. Threw this together and let Charlatan take care of the bottom end.

This synth is a brilliant effort! I'm in awe!

Is it me or does the Filter "Step" when the cutoff is moved fast?
Also, any way we could get bpm synced LFO's? Two LFO's would also be awesome... maybe in a bigger Charlatan version? hehe
Thank you for this though!

Still invisible in Cubase sx, what might the reason be?

Hey, by the way, thanks for making the synth - I had a lot of fun using it. And I like the red, too.karrikuh wrote:Hi all, thanks for electing Charlatan for the latest OSC!
Do you have plans for enhancements at some point in the future? I know a couple were mentioned; using it for a whole song, I thought of a few "minor" ones that would be great. Or a second generation synth ready for a future OSC: "Deception"! Hah!

At the moment, the only major feature I plan to add is MIDI sync of the LFO. I'm always happy to hear about feature requests, though. There will also be a new release with minor fixes/improvements soon.z.prime wrote: Do you have plans for enhancements at some point in the future? During the past few weeks, I have started a complete rewrite of the synth engine using hand-optimized SSE code. When using full polyphony, this yields a reduction of CPU usage by more than 50% ! However, it's far from finished and will probably take a few months until ready for release.
I have also ideas for a new synth project based on digital synthesis methods (FM and phase distortion) which would complement Charlatan nicely. Not sure when it's gonna happen, though...

awesome. this is the stuff that turns free synths into legendary workhorses. i'll be able to spam as many instances as with synth1karrikuh wrote: During the past few weeks, I have started a complete rewrite of the synth engine using hand-optimized SSE code.
