My latest remix, this took 6 hours to record in November 2009 and 5 hours to edit/remix/master in October/November 2011.

I used this opportunity to change the synth programming for many of the sounds. The drum patches were all modified and 1 percussion patch was reprogrammed from scratch. This was all performed on one VST, and effects added later with a hint of dblue on 1 instrument track only. Mellower than my usual stuff.

Can you guess the VST used?

This is the first track I've posted since my old computer died. I'm about 10% through reinstalling the new machine.

BTW, the title was derived from a conversation during recording regarding our weekly quest for sustenance/provisions and is in no way intended to infer qualities to this track which could be considered "bandwagon-jumping" in some circles!

Love the track Tim... I've always had a thing for those tremolo-delay style sounds. Nice melodic moves in there as well.

If I may, it almost sounds to me as though the velocity of your bass part varies over a 4 bar period with 2 quiet bars and 2 louder bars. Maybe it was intended to give some push-push movement to the track, but I thought I'd just mention it in case.

It's not the velocity. I doubled up a bass track every 3rd and 4th bar and opposed it's brother using some panning. I also put a bit of chorus on the left channel to spice it up a little. I may be putting these stems up for a remix in a couple of days.

It will be interesting to see whether anyone figures out which synth I used here.

i really like this Tim. aspects of the melody remind me slightly of Aphex Twin in one of his more contemplative moods. this will be in my head when i'm out cheese shopping later today.

but why does it sound so lo-fi? did you cut the hf's on purpose?

Love this piece - Reminds me of early 80s synthpop
I cant guess the VSTs used but i think the bassline is played with
Tall-Bassline which brings me to the next point.

When i use synthy punchy basslines i always end up filtering them down to make room for other instruments in the frequency spectrum. But probably because of the big distance in high and low and smart use of the stereospectrum and sparseness of the arangement you didnt need to do this.

Fantastic mix-out. Very transparent.
