Looking for the best acoustic guitar vst to replace Omnisphere gtrs

Yeah, I know there is no best but at least in your opinion of the higher end Acoustic guitar vsts. I quit using Omnisphere mainly because of it's cpu hit but really like the acoustic guitars so now I need to replace them with something comparable and as recent as possible. Not looking any of the old ones like Real guitar2 (already have that but guitar vsts have come a long way since).Maybe something that has a auto strum option with chords that sounds realistic.
Not willing to pay $500 for it though which is more than the whole Omnisphere plugin.

Yes, Guitar VST came a long way, but the Real Guitar series from Musiclab is still the leading lights in the VSTi realm. Everything else is KONTAKT (Player) bound and therefore no standalone VSTi.

These are pretty good. More straight forward sounds than Omni.

Yeah, I have Kontakt though I've never liked the interface but I have to use it anyway for my other kontakt stuff so I'll check out Orange Tree. Thanks.

You know Compyfox, I've had Realguitar2 by Musiclab for years but after playing the guitars in Omnisphere it just sounds kind of dead to me. Just no life anymore to my ears unless I find a good plugin combo to liven it up.

Listening to the Orangetree demos and It's blowing my mind. Whether I can get it to sound like that for me might be another issue but it sure sounds good.
Definitely on my short list! I'm going to ask them what drums they used too.
What blew my mind even more was the drum sound which sounded live.I emailed Greg at Orangetree and asked him about the drums and he said they were Additive drums they used.I always thought Additive drums sucked to my ears.
Guess I'd better revisit them and also revisit my drum programming skills.
They sounded really really good....in the right hands.

I agree - I never got what people saw in it - really lifeless, thin and unrealistic sound. I suppose maybe the strumming engine is what appeals?

It's got a great feature list but hasn't kept up with the sound we now here in other vsts but it's still good for what it is though I've moved on from it since hearing better these days.

btw what really bumps up the cpu in the standard guitar patches in Omni is the fx, particularly the pro verb - take them out of it and you can reduce cpu by 2/3 - if you need a touch of verb use a lighter one like the Valhalla verbs.

There's also Poetic Acoustic Guitars which I'm selling in the market place at the moment. I can't compare to all other guitar libraries, but I find them very good compared to Omnisphere library guitars and Kontakt guitars. And there's a very flexible strumming engine.

That's a good point but what I was referring to was the overall cpu hit from the plugin itself with no sounds loaded. I was amazed how much the cpu use meter in Cubase went down when I removed the plugin from the vst instrument panel and replaced it with 3 instances of Alchemy and 3 instances of Zebra 2 and the meter didn't go back up a bit.

I think Pettinhouse needs to be mentioned in this thread, good sounding, realistic, not scripted as flashy as the Orange Tree stuff but very good imo...

The demos sounds good and I like the fact that you get more than one guitar.

Omni guitars are testament to good programming skills... No extravagant key switching or excess multi layers, just awesome playability. if I were you I'd spend the money on upping the bits of your computer that need it the most. RAM and a new CPU (depending on your socket type, you might find there's an ex top-of-the-range CPU on blowout) sound like the best bet. stick with what you know and like!
