i am thinking of using an ipad for music as well as minor office tasks.
a possible concern is file transfer to somebody's computer in their office, first because of itunes compulsion and secondly, lack of usb.
is there a way to make this process easy and unsuspicious? i guess the only option is a wifi.
then how long is the procedure of setting up such a connection? will the user need administrator's privileges?

i haven't really messed around with it yet, but IOS5 has the cloud. you can back up your data online and then grab it from another computer. 5 gigs free (above that it's priced too steeply for me) but you can clear it out after you grab what you need.

yeah, similar idea. not sure about the other computer thing though. I haven't actually bothered downloading from the cloud yet, so I don't know if there are restrictions as far as that goes. sorry I can't be of any more help. should be easy enough to google though. maybe you can log into your itunes/apple account from their computer?TOTAL wrote:i guess it must be something like dropbox?

If you are mainly talking office type files, then Dropbox is IMHO the best option. Or, just simply email the docs to yourself at your work email address.....
I use Pages and Numbers and found them to be good for my needs. You have the option to save as a Word file in Pages, and an Excel file in Numbers, so the computability is good. And if it is just a few docs, email is the easiest way.

i have made a discovery!
contrary to what i have been hearing on the net,
what I will need is
1. a file explorer bypassing itunes (probably only for jailbroken iosystem)
or
2. a way to make ipad's disk visible on a windows machine
contrary to what i have been hearing on the net,
so i do not need a wifi.Connecting iPad to your computer
Use the included Dock Connector to USB Cable to connect iPad to your computer. Connecting
iPad to your computer allows you to sync information, music, and other content with iTunes.

As an iPad user you should try the box.net app, and just by logging in within the mobile app you'll get a free 50 GB storage account.
I've been using it for a few days now, and apart from a few crashes pretty happy with it (particularly the storage size
).
Edit : Just realized I can't upload files from the mobile app, I've only tried from the desktop to the cloud.
