I plan on using Absynth for ambient and soundscapes, but I also plan on using it for trance because I want my tracks to sound different without sounding too different.

Your demos are absolutely stunning. You are an exceptional programmer. I have always felt Absynth is an atmosphere / soundtrack synth and your patches are the cream of the crop in this category. I got so many patches with Ultimate though I don't need any more for at least quite a while, but if I were looking for atmospheric stuff you'd be my first choice :tu:
Thank's for that Gonga - I wasn't actually looking for new subscribers in this thread, just felt like posting some evidence of Absynth's capabilities after reading some of the posts in here...

I strongly recommend to take a look at John Lehmkuhls videos and listen to the examples to get an idea of Absynths versatility. Really fat stuff made with Absynth you actually don't hear every day.

Wow cool! I liked Absynth before, but I really am turning my attention to it now

I just wanted to say Hi - a good customer on my facebook page told me about this topic and I wanted to chime in a moment.

I've worked extensibility with a number of the most often referred to synths mentioned and can tell you nothing else sounds like Absynth - it has it's own personality that it happily applies to everything thanks to the way it works. There is a 3D depth you can pull out of Absynth that is truly magical. BTW a number of waveforms found in Alchemy and Omnisphere are samples from Absynth...

One place where Absynth owns the block is in regards to envelopes (Omnisphere is a uber close 2nd in terms of power). Nobody has envelopes that allow every segment to be controlled independently of the other segments. A number of my favorite patches I created for my Power Pack library have 1 slider controlling 1 set of envelope segments and another slider controlling the remaining segments. So I can vary between up pulse or down pulse or get really crazy and totally change a rhythmic pattern in real-time with a couple performance sliders. This power doesn't exist anywhere else that I know of in hardware or software.

It's not the newest and the interface is not the easiest which is why I targeted it as a synth I wanted to support with patches and videos. It's voiced into such a defined box that I had to try to show this is a synth (DAMMIT!) and can make phat basses, cutting leads and fast synths as well and in some cases better than anything else available.

Thank you to all that recommended checking my work out. Very much appreciated.

I actually spent a bit of time reading the Absynth manual a few days ago. While I haven't really explored it as much as I should, I did think that might be helpful and it's given me some ideas to try out.

Really not sure why I've ignored it as reading the manual gave me some ideas for things that I thought might be much harder to do with anything else I have.

It's one ugly muthafukaah...

Did Arnie ever say son of a gun? Or in his case 'sonovagaan'.

Who's Arnie? Swartzy?

Post

My original remark was inspired by one of Arnie's lines from 'Predator'. ;)
