Hi Simon, I was going to get the sound bank but this looks like an option that would make more sense. How long does the subscription last for if you subscribe? Is it for a year?

Never mind, I think my question is answered on the absynthsounds page! So please just consider this as a little bumpage! Current number is now 6, btw. :)

Hi Sequent, the subscription is unlimited, meaning forever - does that sound insane? It is...
The price rises moderately the more patches I publish, so the later you join the more you pay - I think the next benchmark will be when I reach about 120 Absynth 5 patches.

Thank's for joining :)

Thank you for your reply. That IS insane! But good insane.

Someone mentioned there being five million patches for absynth out there (or something like that). I would rather have 120+ very good patches than having a boatload of mediocre tweakings from somewhere else. So anyone thinking about these should definitely go for it, imo. I really like the amount of effort that you put into everything you do and it is usually something very interesting and very unique. Very inspirational too. These patches show that there is definitely a lot of life still left in absynth!

Thank's for the nice feedback, testimonials like that make it all a lot more worthwhile ;)
Every Softsynth that is more than a couple of years old seems outdated to many users - Absynth 5 has improved a lot with version 5 which was released quite a long while ago. If NI one day decides to drop Absynth I would even be insane enough to try to buy the source code and go on developing it. But hopefully that will not happen too soon...

Hopefully you won't have to do that anytime soon. I hope Absynth stays around for a good while!

What I like about something that's a bit older, especially if it's still very usable and sounds good, is that over time as computers get faster something that may have once been a "cpu hog" suddenly becomes something that takes hardly any cpu at all. Then you can freely use multiple instances, etc. without having to think about it. Just because it wasn't updated "yesterday" does not automatically make it bad, imo.

Very true with many "older" VIs (the meaning of "old" gets a new meaning in these modern times), with Absynth it totally depends on how many Oscillators and modules are active within a patch though. Some patches can be quite CPU heavy, I usually then reduce the voice polyphony to make them really playable.

That makes sense. Also, if the patch itself is very detailed then you don't necessarily want to do big complex chords anyway. At least in my experience.

Yes, with some patches you just play an octave in the lower ranges and a whole cinematic sound movie begins and never ends...

A user on the NI Forum (Ruari) suggested, that I would embed the patch description into the Attributes/Comments section which I have done. As usual both formats Absynth 5 formats (nabs/ksds) are included in the zip folder.
