When will Spectrasonics announce Stylus RMX 2?

I love Spectrasonics and I have Omnisphere (with Moog pack), Trillian, and Stylus RMX... but given what I've seen on KVR about issues with license transfer, I wouldn't buy or sell their products. Expecting that buying it used might lead to some special upgrade pricing might set you up for disappointment.
I also don't think there's any true indication that Stylus RMX 2 is around the corner. It may be a completely new product that has nothing to do with drums. (Whatever it is I'm sure I'll be buying it, though, they're batting 1000.)
Quite frankly I don't believe there should be a second-hand market in software. It's by its nature an asset that degrades over time.

I'm not sure what "valid info" you've heard but all I've seen is Eric say "we have big plans for RMX". Earlier this year someone asked him if it would be better to wait to purchase and Eric posted "don't wait".Tridnod wrote:Long shot, since there has been some valid info that something is coming, is it worth buying stylus 2nd hand? Recently i only used the electro fruns in Omnisphere since all other instruments with drums do not cut it. The few samples in omni is great and i want all that spectrasonics can offer. Since some say that spectrasonics always announces their products in advance before launch, can someone say for sure that there wont be a new drum/percussion product in like six months?
It's true Spectrasonics announces new products well in advance of release, and we really haven't heard anything regarding RMX.
I you buy it 2nd hand though I don't think you'll be entitled to the regular customer upgrade price, but I'm not sure about that.
You have to "buy in" to get Spectrasonics stuff, but they are incredibly generous once you do. Almost 10 years ago I bought Atmosphere, Trilogy and Stylus and now I have RMX 1.9, Omnisphere 1.5 & Trilian 1.3 and that was only an adiitional $250. Pretty mind-blowing when you think about it.

Yes i have both Trilian and omnisphere and i know about the lc-issues. I'll probably buy it as new then, maybe hold off to winter namn. But anyway, spectrasonics made me make music instead of tools. Trilian for those instant base sound and omnisphere for anything else, patches as well as my own sounds. Now i only need the beats.

Well, I love RMX and it's really easy to use - the tutorials are great - but the most important thing to me is using the edit groups to remove/replace sounds and using the time designer to lock the "feels" of disparate grooves. Some people do use it differently though. And of course you have the normal piano roll view editing in your daw.Tridnod wrote:Btw if you compare Trillian and omnisphere in complexity, where omnisphere is complex and Trillian very easy, where on the svale dose stylus land?
I wouldn't say it has a high level of complexity, and there are some aspects of it that do seem a bit tedious now, and that's why this particular upgrade is so anticipated.

First of all I disagreed with that, but thinking about it it is probably true actually. Trilian is just the same as Omni really except it has an easy optional front end and a few less parameters. The biggest problem with Stylus right now is that it doesn't have the great tag browser, which DOES make the other two much quicker to work with. Also stuff like assigning midi CCs is all just a bit more cumbersome. It's definitely the one that needs a UI overhaul, even though superficially it looks similar. It's still awesome, mind!lightsfadelow wrote:Stylus RMX is the most 'complex' of the Spectrasonics plugs by far IMO.

Personally I think the biggest overhaul needed for RMX (2) will be:
- native loading of WAV/REX/ACID wave files
So far it is only possible to convert REX files into SAGE format and then get going. But with the flood of audio material on webboards (just look into the samples subboard), you could supercharge RMX. Then again, you first need to "convert" these WAV/ACID files into REX2 (which takes time and additional funds to get ReCycle), and then into SAGE again in banks of 72 IIRC.
If RMX could load and slice these samples natively, you'd save a lot of time and trouble. It's still the most requested feature up until today.
I don't care about much else anymore. Except for maybe a built in "dblue Glitch" (but fully midi controllable with multi-keypress capability) for even more chaos - but then again... Artillery/Effectrix or Glitch can be applied seperately without any troubles. Keeping things simple is more than enough and RMX came a long way from v1.

I would love it if they just revised RMX to have the look and feel of Omni and Tril. Interesting that they got away from dependancy on other companies with Omnisphere and Trillian- but RMX still relies on Recycle's format. It will be nice when the whole family is native Spectrasonics and not 2 kids and a half-brother <grin>.

Equally important to go along with that would be the ability to see the waveform and select slices by clicking them. Absolutely vital especially if you're setting your own slice markers. But even currently, it would be useful for assigning groups and such.Compyfox wrote:Personally I think the biggest overhaul needed for RMX (2) will be:

Yeah i believe this was the case with Trilian and then was released like three months after the show.
