Hi,olikana wrote:nothing ingo. looks i have problems with downloading files from rapidshare.
files report as downloaded...but they are unusable (cannot be opened).
and looking at the miniscule filesizes of the downloaded files on my pc it's obvious it ain't downloading the files in full...for example your wav shows here as 165kb in size which obviously can't be. it's downloading the headers and not the actual file.
yes this is strange indeed. Never heard of such problems before and i already hosted big files (200+ MB) without problems.
Finally i was able to upload the audio demo to Soundcloud:

After sleeping one night this version of te preset is maybe not as good as i thought...
Seems to have too much high frequencies and too long attack.
Maybe with a different name i could still use that preset for the Diva Patch Lib is it seems to be nice anyway. It's based on Narrow Pulse waves (Diva setting 8.90) in OSC2 + 3 with no detune, a little FM from OSC1, Osc Sync off, full filter keytracking and longer filter envelope attack + decay.
I deleted the other links except those in my first post about the preset.
Conclusion:
Olikana's last published attempt seems to be the best so far:

I decided if I can't get rid of the aliasing style noise from the LFO's maybe I should try a different approach and "embrace it" instead.
Since Olikana's basis is already good (my effort was tweaked in the absence of "grit" and is "too brassy") I went with the envelope/FX and basic wave shapes, slightly modified but almost the same. Probably the most helpful setting, though, was actually the 1/16th mod speed. I'd mainly tried higher speeds, but 1/16th seems to offer the best balance between what you want Vs what you don't (modulation "grit" Vs unwanted harmonics).
With that in mind I figured a main problem was the shape being fed, and adding another LFO and some noise might just mix things up enough to help. In the process I think I came across the same bug some of you noticed in Diva, where it sometimes doesn't update the screen settings properly when it loads the patch. Hmm... First I've noticed it - hopefully never to see again.
Anyway, in Olikana's preset he used Mogular's suggestion to route LFO2 to resonance in order to simulate the "grit". The only other modification really doing anything is Cutoff 1 set to envelope 2. I rerouted LFO2 to the adder, then threw in LFO 1 on top, so now the two LFO's were acting on the res
LFO 2 is also set to shape, but only Osc2 is active there, creating a bit more variety. I done a similar thing with osc1 for env2, again just to vary things a bit more, then noise was hooked up (white, pink is too distorted) and some FM (Kydb to Filter FM isn't doing anything though). Finally I tweaked several rates so things were "in sympathy" with each other. All this took maybe 10 mins of tweaking and messing about to see what got the best results.
I think the "unwanted" noise is now reduced quite a bit more whilst largely keeping the "grit" intact. Of course, nothing is free. In losing the noise it also removes a bit of low frequency from the unwanted "ghost notes". These ghost notes weren't really part of the original sound anyway, but do serve to "fill out" the frequencies and add a little punch/weight which Diva lacks slightly in comparison to the original when removed. However, even with that, I think it's a bit closer to the original (you lose some, but gain more in return IMO).
First example is where you can hear this version Vs Olikana's original with the lower harmonics. Then there's a C6, just to demonstrate how much the aliasing style noise is actually reduced by introducing the 2nd LFO and "tweaking". Finally there's the tune with modded preset and Olikana's original being 2nd again.

It would be nice, though, if there were an easier way to get rid of those undesired harmonics in Diva

yes well done, i think it is an improvement although as u say it loses a bit of an element(that "ring" at the bottom which is defenetly in the original but sounds a bit naff and overpowering in my preset) to sound a bit better balanced overall with less noticeable unwanted artefacts. unfortunately i don't think the patch will ever be 100% as the original till FM is also 100% alias free.
btw in my patch i always put "kvrforum" as author....never my name or anyones. it's a joint effort between anyone who participated actively in the thread (with suggestions, criticism and what not).
cheers

in bronto's presets he made a sound called "simple beauty" when set to poly mode and played as a pad or polyphonic synth it is one of the best sounds i have ever heard period. i would really like more sounds like this.
ALSO
I would reallly like a lot of poly synth sounds with unique character. I.E. patches you can play like you would a piano or a rhodes but with a cool sound to them.

I see that this thread has developed very nicely, this is exactly what I had in mind, people helping each other create some awesome presets and in the process learning Diva as well as contributing to its status.olikana wrote:btw in my patch i always put "kvrforum" as author....never my name or anyones. it's a joint effort between anyone who participated actively in the thread (with suggestions, criticism and what not).

Was maybe already tried 1000 times but only few seem to get it right. I'll have a look. AFAIK i got a quite good version somewhere, i guess it was for my Blofeld bank.HunterKiller wrote:Another great preset:
Of course there is no Oberheim filter currently but maybe it will work with the Jupiter. I'll use one of my many Jupiter Brass sounds for Diva as a starting point.

I just found that i have done this at least 3-4 synths and all seem to sound different while none seems to nail it 100%. Could be worth another try but maybechacka wrote:I'm a sucker for that one! Ultra classic.HunterKiller wrote:Another great preset:
Maybe it will just don't work without the proper filter from the OB-Xa.
