Hi,
I usually assume pilot error on my part when a piece of software behaves unpredictably for me, and this is no exception. I understand it's a complicated piece of code, and furthermore that it's beta. So before I enumerate any issues, would anyone please comment on your experiences using this to record multiple midi loops in realtime synced to a host clock and to each other(as opposed to loading midi files and manipulating them). What I'm, especially interested in hearing is:
A. Where the loop region winds up being in relation to your actual punch-in/punch out points.
B. Whether a loop stops playing even though the host clock is running, and cannot be restarted, etc.
C. Whether you are experiencing things like, for example, Loop 1 muting when you attempt to re-record Loop 2, even though they are not "grouped", etc
D. If you are using it this way, whether you feel, at this stage of it's development, it is trustworthy to use before a live audience.
If I'm just stupid, and doing something wrong, I'd be thrilled, because I can fix that
. OTOH, if it's still unstable, that's a bummer. As one of the MIDI guitar "early adopters", I've been waiting over 25 years for a robust, full featured MIDI looper (seriously, I used Dr. T's on a Commodore 64 w/ a GR-700 in 1983). It is truly the Holy Grail.
It amazes me that this far into the game, there are only two players that I know of, this one & Zyklus, neither quite ready for prime time. Ableton has to be "hacked" with Bomes Translator to make it sorta work like a MIDI looper for live performance. If there was something that did for MIDI what Mobius does for audio (with extensive MIDI control, scripting, properly working "quantize/wait until" functionality, etc., I'd plop down $150.00 for it THIS INSTANT. It's a heartbreak to be this close for this long. Sometimes it feels like cheap, PC based digital audio dealt a death blow to MIDI...
\rant off
Thanks for reading, and certainly for any experiences/thoughts/alternatives.
And Piz, I am deeply grateful for all your hard work on all your excellent projects, I hope this post doesn't come off sounding any differently. I couldn't code this looper myself, or I would have tried decades ago. It's way beyond my skill.

Thank you for sharing this with us, I understand and feel your pain but as long as we chose to wait for somebody else to make our dreams become true, this is all we can take or leave. I also share your gratitude to all abovementioned hard-working programmers who develop midi loopers.

I'm using Reaper on Win7/32 and when I use my midi controller to record in some notes into this looper they never play back in time - basically the looper is moving the notes around so that they sound disjointed.
Interestingly when I record the same passage using Reapers built in Virtual Midi Keyboard its fine, just not when I use one of my external ones.
Id love dearly to be able to use this inside Reaper - I tried it out in EnergyXT and it worked fine with the external controller.
Anyone have any ideas?
Oh Piz if you read this I tried some of your earlier beta's (pre gui) and the didn't exhibit this problem
Cheers
Jed

Ok, note triggering now follows "Play Active Slot Only" setting in both Windows versions.

I'm going through the thread and copying down all the other bug reports and am planning to fix them this week.

dloading x64 will test soon
magic button said : "piz deserve the one coup of good strong coffee"
and i agree with it.
Edit...
wow i just discover ;
with "play active slot only" mode if you control+click to another slot number(s) seems adding more slots to play which is very cool (IMHO).
after the bug cleaning
how about making this option some kind of Toggle :
Ctrl+Click to slot numbers = Active / de activate
its just a mini suggestion.
Thank you again!

I added velocity sensitivity for note triggering and fixed some bugs with midi thru... some of the reported bugs are kind of tricky for me to reproduce, but I'm going to try.

if youre playing live and using the laptop as an instrument and not a sequencer with a lot of vstis loaded and set for extremely low latency you might not want to change projects and have that load time, you might just want to have a drumbeat or some background sequence that you can trigger off to do various patterns when you want, as an instrument itself.
also it runs nice on v-machine so ive used it as a drum machine on a couple gigs and its very flexible.
