As stated above. If it is possible what do I need to pull it off?

I have:

iPad 2 and the iRig midi.

TouchOSC + Logic is a great combo.

A remote desktop is handy too http://itunes.apple.com/app/teamviewer/id379424610

TouchOSC is great but might be a little messy to start with, especially if you're on a PC. Easier to set up with OSCulator on a Mac. Some other really great controllers for specific tasks are:

MIDI Pads http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/midipads ... 16060?mt=8
Soundprism Pro http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/soundpri ... 33007?mt=8
MidiMe http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/midime/id427520424?mt=8
Thumbjam http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/thumbjam ... 77566?mt=8

For working with arps and sequencing:
Keyboard Arp and drum pad http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/keyboard ... 35693?mt=8
Genome MIDI sequencer http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/genome-m ... 75494?mt=8

There are loads more but these are the ones I use most, highly recommended for controlling VSTs via Touch and/or Tilt.

If your DAW is Cubase or ProTools you might want to control it via your iPad:
V Control Pro http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/v-contro ... 23823?mt=8

If your DAW is Ableton live there are TouchAble and a few others as well.

The iRig MIDI should work out of the box, although I use wifi MIDI which has worked perfectly with the small freeware rptMIDI software:

Sorry for reviving this thread: So if I have Touchable on my iPad 2 and the iRig MIDI interface, can I control Ableton Live on my desktop PC right through the iRig MIDI? (without having to set up the wireless connection to send the data from my iPad?) - like in this scenario: Touchable on my iPad --> Midi Out on the iRig MIDI --> Midi In on my external audio interface --> Ableton Live on my PC? That would really help as I have no laptop (just a desktop PC with no wireless connectivity) and my iPad has OS 5.01, for which there is no jailbreak available yet (a necessary prerequisite for using the MyWi app to get USB connection between the iPad and the PC).

I have neither Touchable or the iRig interface, but that sounds like it should work seamlessly. Are you experiencing problems?

No, I'm just asking to make sure it will work before I invest in the iRig MIDI (I don't have it yet).

iDisplay adds the iPad as additional, touchable screen to your setup, with an easy way to reposition windows to your iPad screen or back to your desktop.

I tried it with the iPhone and it works quite well. But the iPhones screen is too small. I'm looking forward to the retina iPad3.

Well, I guess it's not going to work:
"TouchAble uses Midi, but mostly relies on direct communication with Abletons API. For that reason you can't connect touchAble with Ableton via camera kit and USB, sorry."
It seems that would also apply to a MIDI interface like the iRig MIDI.

Buy a cheap router and set up wifi with your desktop, that's what I do, works really well + could be handy for other things too.

Yes, that's what I thought I will probably do - a good idea, thanks!
