He is indeed. Ever heard of winamp?Arglebargle wrote:I love the text search boxes in Reaper. It has so many great features, so when I criticize it it's from a position of love, not hate. I want it to be better. Compared to Sonar, which I've absolutely given up on.
Isn't the main Reaper guy a multimillionaire? It's not like he can't afford to hire some extra people.
Would you still buy Reaper if it will cost you as much as the other DAWs ?

I was gonna say the same thing. After buying REAPER I've considered purchasing Live, Samplitude, or ProTools but can't really justify the expense. REAPER's not perfect...I am sometimes frustrated that so many of its features are invisible, and I don't quite understand their religious zeal for key commands/against mouse tools.liquidsound wrote:Maybe the original question should be reversed because it force you to think the other way around.
Would you still buy Reaper if ALL the other DAWs would cost $60?
If yes then the case should be closed. Reaper is really that good.

Yes this is what many here are not really answering. It's not about Reaper usage or a better way of doing something, but more about clarity of mind and decision. Do you REALLY pass on a Live or Cubase for $60 and stick with Reaper? Do you really....Winstontaneous wrote:I was gonna say the same thing. Yes. I've had those. Some of them were ok (like cubase 4 for what it was at the time) but reaper is much better than that was.liquidsound wrote:Yes this is what many here are not really answering. Well I've owned Live and sold it while at the same time keeping Reaper so yes. I did buy Live Intro just to play around with but tbh rarely use it. As for Cubase I don't know enough about it but it doesn't seem to have spline based automation and I'm pretty sure the interface is quite messy with lots of windows (I used to own Cubasis years back - in fact was my first DAW - way before VST of course - but then moved to Logic until they ditched Windows) - it has some good tools I think for people who like to compose orchestral stuff but I wouldn't need them. Can it record a plugin live to audio I wonder? (I use that technique a lot in Reaper)liquidsound wrote:Yes this is what many here are not really answering. Yep! It's possible. It's unnecessarily complicated (like many things in Cubase) but it is possibleaMUSEd wrote: Can it record a plugin live to audio I wonder? (I use that technique a lot in Reaper)

ha - sounds like Sonar. So far in Reaper I found 4-5 different ways to do that in just a few minutes of testing it out - saved them all as templates too.Bronto Scorpio wrote:Yep! It's possible. Finally someone with a strong clear-cut statement.VitaminD wrote:If the full version of Cubase 6 was $60 USD... I'd jump on that deal instantly... even with my dislike of usb dongles.

Well the real question is how much would he use it? I might buy it at that price too (especially if it was a limited offer) only to find myself still using Reaper more, as I did recently with Studio One.liquidsound wrote:Finally someone with a strong clear-cut statement.VitaminD wrote:If the full version of Cubase 6 was $60 USD... I would easily. I wouldn't change to any other host no matter what the cost.liquidsound wrote:Yes this is what many here are not really answering. I call it keeping my options open. I don't think there is any one DAW that meets all my needs - Reaper comes closest but there are things in others I like too.
