You should double click the zip, then put the .vst extension file in your vst folder manually.
You should also try it using the Reaper demo, or some other host that will load vst. If it doesn't work than it's the os version.
It's possible he made this using 10.6, so 10.5 compatibility might be an issue.

Hi.

I'm apparently a crack smoker because I can't figure vstau manager out. I've got 0.2rc2 and ran it. It finds Synth1 and I hit installed and it says "installed" under status and... now what? Is doesn't make a .component file or anything else in the Components plug in folder and Logic Express doesn't see it when I scan. There's no help I can find anywhere nor instructions. Google leads me back here. The forum search leads me back here.

Where did I go wrong?

edit: Even stranger... it shows up in Garageband but not in Logic Express.

edit again: I started Logic Express in 32-bit mode and voila, there it is. I guess in the wrapper it doesn't work with the 32-bit bridge when booting in 64-bit mode.

Anyone tried this in Digital Performer 7?

Workaround: right click on the vst menu bar and activate "always on top".

I know nothing about any update; anyway this bug seems to happen at first init or when changing patch (at least this is my experience), so I mute the master (or the track) anytime I load Synth1 or change patch, I play some notes and then I unmute the master if Synth1 is working fine.

If I mute the track instead of the master, I insert a meter plugin on that track so I have a visual reference to know if the "wall of noise" bug is happening or not (obviously the channel meter doesn't work if the channel is muted).

It's not the best solution, but at least this workaround prevents me from blasting my speakers and my hears. :?

that's what I have been doing as well. someone pointed out that if the delay is turned off it doesn't do it, so I end up turning off the delay and it works fine. pain in the butt though so I haven't been using it at all. thanks for the reply.

Hey guys... this is my first time posting here...

i just wanted to let you know that i found a way to fix the problem with the "WRITE" function crashing daws...

First, if you have synth one already installed and its crashing your daw everytime you click write you must delete the following file:

USER >Library >Audio >Preferences > jp.daichi.synth1.plist

Then after that, Synth1 will reset to factory settings. After which you can start setting up your personal bank folders... BUT you have to make sure that each of your Preset folders doesnt have a name which is longer than 23 characters (including spaces)

for some strainge reason if you name your folders with names longer than 23 chars synth1 will crash upon summoning the write function.

I'm happy as i finally have a fully working instance of my long awaited favorite synth....

Greets!

btw... whats the best way to submit this as a bug to mr ichido toda?

are you not experiencing the volume spikes with the delay? I'm not actually getting any crashes, just that horrible volume thing. good tip though.

In fact i got the thing once or twice.... but it occurs that i normally build my own sounds and i like them dry...

i've got my rig pretty much set up already in logic with all the effects running thru sends so i never really use built in fx from any synth.

Soo back to the main question... were you able to get the WRITE function working correctly?

I haven't actually tried the write function yet. studying for finals and haven't had much of a chance to play with the synth, beyond turning it on and checking out some of the presets. seems like a really great synth, and I will dig deeper into it once this quarter is done. thanks for the tip, i'm sure it will come in handy. especially glad to see that you're on Logic too. don't be surprised if you get a PM at some point asking random synth1/Logic Pro questions. :)

I take it that the AU version still hasn't surfaced yet?

Hopefully it will before the holidays.
