Our problem is that having some sounds on a separate beat sequencer is a pretty big workflow killer. This is why I probably wont buy this as such.dredd i knight wrote:pdxindy wrote: If you want a sampler and MPC type flow, spring for Geist, if its synth beats then tremor, if both then get both, and the overlap in terms of engines, step sequencing etc just means a quicker learning curve....
I really hope that they will put at least some of this inside Geist. It doesn't really have to add much to the complexity workflow-wise - one would only choose if they wanted to use Geist type sampling or a synth patch for any pad. Patterns could use them both mixed.
Or if that is too much to ask, having either selectable for any engine would still be useful.
But, this already seems to be a new separate product, so...

Even MPC has a synth built in these days. Sure everyone works around it, but bouncing stuff out from my other vst had been the least fun of the whole workflow. And honestly 1 more step sequencer that expects me to import and export midi patterns all day long I'm going to punch something. I hope they'll at least let me open my geist pattern presets.dredd i knight wrote: That's where we disagree you see... I think that there's always a pay-off between complexity and workflow. Right now Geist is well balanced; I would enjoy seeing it gain some synthesis features, but what Tremor looks to be bringing to the table is far more than a few synthesis options... It's a Dcam based circuit modelled, transmod modulation beast! That's why it makes sense to me to have its separate.... Also i think the price point for it is good; there was a lot of fuss when Geist came out at its price point... If you want a sampler and MPC type flow, spring for Geist, if its synth beats then tremor, if both then get both, and the overlap in terms of engines, step sequencing etc just means a quicker learning curve....

That doesn't sound too bad IMO, neither for the future of Geist nor for what to expect of Tremor. I doubt FXpansion releases your average drum synth. From the FAQ it's apparent that they'll do some thorough modelling once again.Peevy2000 wrote: +1 I'm a bit pissed at this too, because I definitely recall someone at Fxpansion saying they'd have synthesis in Geist at some point. Maybe they still plan on doing it.
And maybe the development of Tremor will give them insight on how to best integrate a drum synth (think "Tremor light") into Geist, so let's wait and see what Tremor brings.
Sorry, but I don't think your post really makes much sense.
- Angus said Tremor functionality is too deep to be integrated into Geist
- he also said that Geist still probably will have some synth functionality
- you say that's not what you personally want
but how can you say that without even knowing yet
- what the synthesis functionality in Geist will be like
- what functionality Tremor will additionally feature
???

That comment was in the context of a previous one when I said I am sure Tremor will be very good, but I already have lots of great drum synthesis and I just don't need or even want more. I'm covered multiple times over for synthesis. It would only interest me integrated into Geist cause I am already using Geist. It totally makes sense for FXPansion to have Tremor as a separate product, just not for me. When there is some synth functionality in Geist, I am sure I will use it and look forward to the convenience of it. Just not interested in a separate product.
That said I could possibly change my mind if Tremor has some really sexy integration into Geist. For example if I could load a Tremor preset/pad/engine directly within Geist...

Ah, I understood you now - in that context it makes perfect sense, my bad!

Has anyone mentioned Groove Machine?
http://www.image-line.com/documents/groovemachine.html
I demoed Geist but at the time it was ridiculously expensive. Then Groove Machine came along...
My guess is that FXpansion realised that they needed to be a lot more competitive and better at packaging the goods hence the new, much cheaper, better designed, drum sequencer.
I see they've halved the price of Geist - glad I wasn't tempted and got Groove Machine instead but will look at their new offering when it's released.
OT - BTW, does anyone use DCAM and do they rate it compared to the competition? I have a lot of synths so I wondered if it offered anything different. I'll try the demo too.

DCAM is top notch and has its own set of features and unique qualities... It is most certainly not 'just another synth' (or in this case 3 + Fusor)munchkin wrote: OT - BTW, does anyone use DCAM and do they rate it compared to the competition? Thanks for your reply. I tried the demo and it sounds good and at the current price it seems a bargain. I'm going to start another thread to ask advice about a few synths I've compared that are in the same price range.pdxindy wrote:DCAM is top notch and has its own set of features and unique qualities...
