Would you care to explain how to batch re-save Diamond for example? I'm fairly certain that it's just a command, but I can't find the phrase batch re-save in the manual.
Care to give step-by step instructions? I only have 8GB RAM so this could help immensely.

Don't worry, I have a macbook pro, so the CPU isn't that great (i7-but bad cache-5400 rpm drive) and I have no speakers. You all are lucky. So... would I just select the entire Diamond folder?
Anyway, I found how to compress everything. Just to make sure I'm doing it right---
I select the Diamond Folder I have (with all the sub folders with instruments and samples) and set the destination path to the same spot the Diamond Folder is in?
How long will this take?

Errr...no. Better select any other folder. When everything is done, replace the old folder with the new one.synchronizer wrote:I select the Diamond Folder I have (with all the sub folders with instruments and samples) and set the destination path to the same spot the Diamond Folder is in?

How long this will take? Taking into account that you'll probably need to do a batch resave afterwards too, wait until there is some nice movie or football game on TV.

Ah I see...probably would be best to do overnight. Why would I need to batch re-save if e duplicate folder would be created with all of the same positions? I need to be careful...

Go to http://www.kirkhunterstudios.com/update.html and you can download the fixes for the old TVEC 1 woodwind instruments.goyya76 wrote:hi all,
i have the following trouble with the Bass Clarinet and Contrabasson solo instruments (they're the only non-TVEC3 woodwinds in Diamond, if i did not miss anything): as soon as i move down the pitch wheel (to prepare a slide), some notes are triggered at max velocity (i'm not playing any key) - anyone with the same problem?
Cheers,
Goyya

Sorry Kirk, but where exactly must I put that folder? There's no Woodwind Instruments folder in the original Diamond selection.
EDIT: Well as it says on the download page, I'm supposed to just put the updates folder into my Diamond directory with no further alterations--- which instruments are they updating though? I'm not certain which ones to avoid now.

Because Kontakt will look for .wav files instead of .ncw, if they haven't changed this in Kontakt 5.synchronizer wrote:Ah I see...probably would be best to do overnight. Why would I need to batch re-save if e duplicate folder would be created with all of the same positions? I need to be careful...

The resulting folder is shown here along with all of the other Diamond folders:synchronizer wrote:Sorry Kirk, but where exactly must I put that folder? There's no Woodwind Instruments folder in the original Diamond selection.

Okay, thanks for the clarification--- I've noticed something though: I play a note and it sustains even after letting go. That's odd.
EDIT: It was a Kontakt 5 bug, fixed on startup. Weird- I wonder how it happened.

As always, please specify the exact name of the instrument at issue.synchronizer wrote:Okay, thanks for the clarification--- I've noticed something though: I play a note and it sustains even after letting go. That's odd.

See above- I think I accidentally found some sort of Kontakt 5 (tiny) issue. I somehow moved the pitch wheel while holding down a note with the mouse (both at once). strange. Nothing to see here.
Intralive pitch wheel doesn't seem to do anything though. eh I'll learn---.

I've got a small question about Kirk's product line as it is not always clear what products are evolution or extensions of others.
1) Pop-Rock-Strings and Concert Strings II
I first thought, at reading the description on the website, that PRS was a stripped down version of CSII. This seems to be partly true as I've read somewhere that some specific effects are only available in PRS.
Am I right ?
2) "Diamond" includes "Concert Strings I" and "Concert Brass I"
Are these products obsoleted by CSII and CBII or are they intended to work together ?
If they do complement each others, would it make sense for someone havong bought CSII and CBII to buy Diamond as well ?
Thanks in advance for your replies,

All right then. It's clear to me that I'll have to either compress the samples or get an external hard drive. Can someone explain how the NCW compression works? I only have a 5400 rpm internal drive, so I fear that if I use NCW, I will have some problems as a result of the slower speed. Is this true? It's not really feasible for me to replace my macbook pro's internal drive.
Thanks.
Thanks.

1. Pop/Rock Strings is made from the samples used from Concert Strings II, so you can certainly think of it as a stripped down version of Concert Strings II. Pop/Rock Strings stretches some samples, whereas Concert Strings II does not. The only thing that Pop/Rock Strings has that CSII doesn't have is a short disco note effect (remember, PRS is aimed specifically at Pop/Rock music). This page compares the two libraries: http://www.kirkhunterstudios.com/compare_cs2_prs.htmllemeur wrote:I've got a small question about Kirk's product line as it is not always clear what products are evolution or extensions of others.

2. While Concert Strings II and Concert Brass II are more sophisticated than Concert Strings I and Concert Brass I, I would not say that Concert Strings I and Concert Brass I are "obsoleted" by CSII and CBII. Yes, a lot of people buy Diamond and CSII and CBII specifically because no single library has it all and the libraries sound different, which provides with a greater sonic pallet to choose from.
