"We were dubstep before there was dubstep," Davis says. "Tempos at 140 with half-time drums, huge bassed-out riffs. We used to bring out 120 subwoofers and line them across the whole front of the stage, 60 subs per side. We were all about the bass."

Korn mines those roots on its 10th album, "The Path of Totality" (Dec. 2, Roadrunner), enlisting the talents of the aggressive electronic genre's top producers, from poster boy Skrillex (aka Sonny Moore) to Noisia, one of its most respected experimental collectives, for an 11-track set that signifies more than an urgent new sound for the almost 20-year-old band. The Path of Totality also stands as dubstep's first official smash-up with its obvious cousin, hard rock. And if social media tests are any indication, the kids are more than ready for it.

Nothing like getting some controversial words to get more attention. Typical marketing move.

Won't bother hearing it...smacks of when Motley Crue (and a few other desperate Cock Rock bands) did their own take on the Grunge sound in the 90's, followed by the sickening slap of millions of palms interfacing with faces all over the world.

TOTAL FAIL!

Both Skrillex and Korn are musical embarrassments. Anyone over the age of 14 into that rubbish wants to have a serious word with themselves.

Yes.

no I think my wife's nephew liked their early efforts, but he eventually quit wearing their T-shirts and apologized for their later releases. That was when he was in high school and now he's in his 30's with kids and a mortgage and still a mountain of student debt.

I think Korn 'invented' dubstep in about the same way that the Luftwaffe 'invented' Conventry...

(Sorry, is that a Goodwin?)

Couldn't help laugh at that, but it's just as ludicrous as what these idiots are claiming.

Anything I've heard from them is derivitive and unoriginal - a new coat of paint on a handful of cliches.
