1.16 is out:

Currently playing around with this wonderful little toy. So far I've been able to produce some promising results very easily, although nothing substantial yet. All signs point towards my purchasing a copy real soon

I love that the interface is so carefully constrained, as it makes searching for cool sounds a breeze! It's also been rock solid running as a plug-in in Reaper so far, something I cannot say of Reaktor (my other go-to granular solution)

I think an expanded parameter set would be a good idea though; perhaps as an "advanced" mode initially hidden, thus not cluttering the interface unless required?

Granular synthesis is fantastic if you have to make soundtrack kind of things on a tight schedule. Plus if you're doing sounds for live performance work, the artists and director will love it because you can put them in to the soundtrack, nice for egos as well as simplifying the fitting of things in- just record the sounds of the dancers feet in practice and process that into a pad, for example.

This granular synth sounds really nice! (been using granular since about 1997 or so).

Granite literally had put a thick layer of dust over my Reaktor granular ensembles since I got this grainy monster

Agreed this is a superb instrument- staggering sound and brilliant GUI. An absolute highlight of 2011.

The College I work for purchased site licenses and I currently use Granite as the tool we use when we teach granular synthesis as part of our Sound Deign course.

I somehow missed this instrument entirely! I have several Reaktor ensembles that look similar, but I'm all for simplicity. If I can just load this puppy up and go, I probably won't bother with that other stuff. Downloading the demo now...

I like that you can load a wav file into it and tweak away. Granite is fun to use, interesting sonorities!
