Interesting that they got away from dependancy on other companies with Omnisphere and Trillian- but RMX still relies on Recycle's format. It will be nice when the whole family is native Spectrasonics and not 2 kids and a half-brother <grin>.
When will Spectrasonics announce Stylus RMX 2?

Indeed, i only use Trilian and Omni. For drums i use a bit of the Omni library and samples from Esx 24. If the stylus two is released at namm i got all i need. However i rather pick up a Maschine mikro if nothing is presented by spectra at Namm. Atleast until the new percussion instrument from spectra is released. Man i love standard solution that spectra offers.

Omnisphere wasn't released for 7 or 8 months after it was introduced at NAMM....if I remember correctly.

Don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread, but don't Spectrasonics save their releases for NAMM in the new year?

Yes, atleast they announce them. So i'll wait till WNAMM and if nothing is presented i'll jump to Maschine while waiting. With a new stylus, i would say that spectra has the real "komplete" bundle even if NI has another approach to their instruments.

Most likely. but.......kevvvvv wrote:Don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread, but don't Spectrasonics save their releases for NAMM in the new year?
If it's revealed at namm, it's likely that it will be some time before it's actually released.

I'd rather Spectrasonics work on a completely new product than Stylus RMX 2. But what? I'm having trouble imagining what they should do. Orchestral products have been done to death. A bread n butter soundset? I still haven't heard a single one that I consider really good.

RMX is my number 1 favorite and most important instrument without any doubt whatsoever. I bought most of the $11 REX loops at eSoundz and others, and plan to pick up more at Nine Volt Audio. I already had all the expansions and Skippy's too. And whatever Spec does with RMX, I'm there.

Yeah, that was a tough deal to pass up. I am very interested in the 9 Volt stuff as well- just more pricey but I am sure worth it. There are stinkers to be found with some of those 3rd party expansions (Zero-G has some and so does eSoundz). But so much material to use, who cares.Gonga wrote:RMX is my number 1 favorite and most important instrument without any doubt whatsoever. I do hope Spectrasonics does another teaser roll up to their announcement like they did with Omnisphere. I really enjoyed those video's. They should just let Diego do some sort of organic percussion synth- he is a wild man at creating that stuff.

Is the ILIO xpander pack for RMX worth it? I listened to the demos and I dunno, they didn't blow me away or anything. I probably don't need any more sounds anyway. I've got a bunch of Esoundz ones, very a much a mixed bag.
Really, the only sounds with consistent quality are the ones from Spectrasonics themselves.

My devotion to RMX was absolute until I bought BFG2 and realised that, for me, as natural a sound as possible was paramount. I still use bits of it but not enough to get excited about a follow up. I too would be interested in seeing Spectrasonic apply its development ethic to something else - orchestral perhaps?

The nature of REX files, makes them pretty ideal for percussive time stretching where you can maintain the basic wav and simply stretch or shrink silence after the wav in the slice.proletkult wrote:My devotion to RMX was absolute until I bought BFG2 and realised that, for me, as natural a sound as possible was paramount. It is not at all ideal for melodic musical content, especially polyphonic sounds. There is a tiny window before wavs overlap if you shrink or change the rhythm if you stretch.
Elastique time shifting, as used in Acid and others, does a much better job, based upon stretching/ shrinking the wav itself.
