I've recorded the audio clips, but am having some trouble with the soundcloud upload. Will post links once the files are up.

Checked out the Virus patch with sounddiver, and as i thought, nothing extraordinary going on under the hood. No esoteric modulations anywhere. The envelope just seems to have a bit more boiiing, a bit more neeooow, a bit more...you get the idea. :D

Laterz...

It could be as simple as the filter envelope not clamping down so much at the end. This means that higher spectral content does not disappear completely at the end of the amplitude envelope, like it does if the LPF envelope has the same release as (or is modulated 100% by) the amplitude envelope. This leaves a little "bloom" of high partials at the end. On synths with envelopes that can do this it is a neat trick IMO to actually open the filter during the amplitude decay, especially if you have portamento going.

ok, audio clips are up on soundcloud, here be links...

I've included clips playing the sequence an octave higher because the different filter action can be heard more clearly in higher notes. (I tweaked Zebra to sound as close as possible to the Virus in the context of the original bassline range.)

Have fun listening to these...I'm gonna remove my anorak for a while and try to make some music!

yup, that's what it sounds like...but it seems to be the Virus' default behaviour. The patch is really plain vanilla, sawtooth thru 2 serial filters, and the 2nd filter's cutoff is completely open. Amp envelope all set to zero except Decay which is at 12 o'clock, and the same settings on filter envelope...all zero except Decay at 10 o'clock. No additional modulations at all.

Zebra has to be tweaked to sound like this...it's not Z's default 'sound'.

Anyway, just an interesting observation, and i hope that CELL emulates the Virus envelope curves accurately, cos nothing else seems to do it quite the same.
Looking forward to CELL guys! Good luck!

Good job matching patches there, they are extremely similar. The Virus has more "juice" or something in the filter- saturation? I bet if you put the Zebra through a halfway decent DA and recorded it from one computer to another, as if it were a standalone synth, you'd get an even "better" sound; the subtle noises of an analog chain add juice.

Aha! But will that increase the boiing, neeooow, and byopp? :D

Thanks for listening!

Great stuff! I hope these sound clips were what Anjey was looking for, and most of all i hope they help in CELL's development.
All the best!

If you need a beta tester, I'm here... :D

I'd love to beta it, maybe even make patches. I'll put it through its paces, for sure.

Good day! In the cell there were minor changes and corrections

list of changes

1. Added new filter types (full list)

1 - LP 24
2 - PEAK 24
3 - HP 24
4 - LP 12
5 - HP 12
6 - BP 12
7 - NOTCH
8 - PEAK

2. Improved work envelope (Envelope punch has an additional mode - control punch).

Envelope punch - modes (hard. medium. Soft. And a new mode - punch control (has two modes - hard (very quick response envelope for the filter with saving High Freg harmonics in the filter, it is reminded Nord Lead 2))), the second mode punch control - soft (this mode is nearly identical mode (hard - punch control), in this mode, added auto correction, when Punch knob envelope Anmount (when you open the envelope envelope Anmount kick increases, closing the envelope envelope Anmount kick wears off and gives the sound a soft, round structure (calibrated mode Access Virus C). also for the mode punch control knob is available punch control (which regulates the force of a kick in the manual and its effect).

All four envelopes are on board full control Envelope Punch for each module independently of the envelope.)))

Work on the synthesizer is continued .............................................. ..... Your Anjey Olaf and Rodney Flor))

Wow, that all sounds quite tweak-tastic!
Count me in if you need any more beta testers!

Soon, expect video clip from cell. I will scatter your doubts about the "ghost" cell))))

Soon was 7 pages ago. 7 pages of this topic, and not a single picture so far. It is your duty as a programmer to give your viewers something to drool over. These "demos" ain't that because this could be just a regular omnisphere patch with their Pro reverb recorded. Unless you're building up a hoax it's time to put up some picture proof of this plugin. I've been designing plugins since 2001, and a plugin without no picture to back it up is no plugin at all. That is the first thing I learned.
Best regards from Johan Brodd.
