i was having a very similar reaction.

It sounds like a movie soundtrack. This would be excellent in a sci-fi/horror/intrigue movie.

Thanks for listening and commenting mrblitz000. Glad you like the 'Tron. I seem to have a lot more difficulty using Redtron and the like in my more modern pieces. It doesn't always sit well alongside synths, although I can get away with it in pieces written in an older style.

I feel like I'm watching Vertigo. Now here come the spaceships. Love those deep chimes around 3:20. Love the choirs. I could definitely hear this on a movie soundtrack. A scary movie. Good stuff.

Thanks for listening rlahalla and glad you liked it. I listened to the track again (the original mastered wav) and was horrified to hear some distortion on there! That's what I get for mixing/mastering at 3AM.

So I went back into energyXT and shaved 0.5 dB off all of the instruments, added a parametric EQ cut around 400Hz to most of the "competing" instruments in the second section and then remastered with a less aggressive gain. It sounds cleaner now, and that distortion has gone. Thanks for the tip. It is much appreciated.

I replaced the original track on soundcloud with the new version.

Thanks for listening and commenting osiris. Glad you liked this one. I enjoyed making it. It was only when I had completed it that I realised how dark it sounded.

Excellent track, very cinematic feel. Starts like Zeit-era Tangerine Dream, then goes into the 70s Italian horror soundtracks realm (not quite Goblin, but something in that vein). Enjoyed immensely, thanks for sharing!

I love poking around with these free VSTis. You can do so much with them. The trick is finding complimentary sounds. This track was written sequentially, so I started with the opening 'tron and then found the vibrato synth, etc. It came together pretty quickly. I hope I can repeat the mood/feel of this in a few months, but in the meantime, I have plenty of remixes to deal with.
