Did real well for about five months. Even absorbed all temptation on the Omnisphere Moog library. The 1.5 update keeps me plenty busy. Not gonna get the add on. I'm strong. Yeah.

Bought a Mesa Mark V.

Yeah, real strong. :help: (But Ima crank dat shit!)

Congrats on both accounts :)

I came really close to buying Geist, but alas it uses C/R rather than a key file so no go...only machines I have touching the web are Linux and I never could get my NI shit registered that came with Sonar so...

haha! we are 4 and half months in and I've bought so much :help: It's amazing how much money you can have when your car isn't constantly in the shop and the house isn't falling apart (knocks on wood)

Lovely choices though, dune being the most recent. No promises here (see the "I promise to BUY more gear" thread)

The tab for this years was ASTRONOMICAL, but in fact, I've enjoyed every second (except the metalurgy thing.......not a happenin' deal)

I PROMISE not to buy ANYTHING ELSE this year :D except valhallaubermod

Me too! Just VahallaÜberMod. (and Aalto and a handful of sale-priced Kontakt libraries, but those don't count as gear, right?)
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

I promised myself after Omnisphere and the somewhat dull Moog addon that my synth needs were completely covered.

And they were!

I didn't count on getting completely sucked into sample libraries this year....

GAS? It's easy, well, in theory at least. In practice it requires to endure some pain or discomfort.

All you need to do is to recognize the moment when some lust for a new piece of gear comes up, followed by the firm decision to redirect and focus your attention to something completely non-music related. Do it everytime you start feeling even the tiniest bit of lust. Actually you don't have an option when it occurs! There's no choice, no moment of consideration. There's only one way which is: connecting the very first moment of gear lust to an activity unrelated to making music.

You can make it easier by avoiding places where GAS is likely to be triggered. Don't read adds, don't read gear reviews and certainly don't read 'I love synth X'-threads.

There's indeed a parallel with addictions like smoking, with the difference there's no significant physical withdrawal symptoms with GAS.

On top of that reward yourself by realizing the new feeling of control you now have. And realize the money you save. And realize you don't feel any less happy by not having bought any new gear. :)

B.t.w. buying new gear will only boost your happiness for a short time. In the long run it doesn't add any joy to your life. Yet it does hold you back from getting to know and master the gear you already have!
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

You had to resurrect this thread didn't you? :hihi:

Damn. Should I even bother listing what I've bought since then??? :o :o :o

The 3 guitars and the bass are enough to send the gas o meter through the roof!
