Hi all.

Now I just tested Zyn .490a in Ableton 8.2.4b2, Cubase Studio 5.5.3 and Reaper 4.0b12. And what shall I say ? Zyn crashed neither of the three when exiting from the DAW !!!

However, I only tested very briefly, once in each of the three sequencers. But I am optimistic now, that this crashing upon exiting from the hosts is resolved.

Zyn is the most awesome sounding synth for pads in the software domain, it beats even commercial synths in my opinion...

Wonderful work, Jackoo.
Cheers to all Zyn friends and the others as well...

Hi jackoo,

I was also experiencing the crash whenever I either closed the VST or closed the host with the VST still open. I've tried 490 and it is not crashing upon exit! You have done amazing work here - Thank You!!!!

Like Underwatersun, I have not done extensive testing yet. Some details of what I've done thus far... Sonar X1 64-bit on an i7 running Win7 64-bit, with bit bridge for handling 32-bit plugs. As I mentioned in the opening, I closed the VST while running Sonar, no crash. Then I closed Sonar with the VST still running, no crash. I then opened the VST using jbridge and still no crashes. (I'm having a minor issue with jbridge, I need to minimize the Zyn GUI in order to get any sound... but I'm very new to jbridge and think I'm missing something in the set-up).

Thank you, jackoo, this is great progress!!!!!!

If possible, and not a lot of hassle, this would be greatly appreciated. This is really the only thing holding back the synth from being used for serious microtonal work. The good news is that it does appear that the state of everything else in the Scale Settings dialog is saved besides the Retune button.
I'm afraid I do not fully understand the issue (I confess i've never used the microtunning features :D)
I've clicked Enable Microtonal, edited the tunings from default 100 200 300.... to 100 300 300 ..... clicked retune and ok C# sounded like D. I saved a fxb file withing VSTHost (the equivalent of what gets saved with the project in any host), closed everything, reloaded Zyn, reloaded the saved fxb file and I had to do noting. Still C# sounded like D. I didn't have to go to scales and click Retune.
However I did notice that once I click scales, the GUI is not updated according to what was saved in the project, but this sounds like another issue.

Could you please specify in more detail what you would like to have? What steps you are making, and what is going wrong? Also please specify your host.

might this be possible ?
hello, sad zyn users who experience that... :D

OK... So I've been still trying [for two full days :D] to tear apart this synth, module by module, line by line, and I might have found something. It doesn't crash anymore on my Win7 64bit in VSTHost.

It's possible i've broken something while trying to reassemble it so could anyone who had experienced the unloading crash bug try this alpha version and report back to me?

Hi jackoo, I too experienced this problem using Reaper 4.02 x64. I see that some people on here have tested Zyn_VDX_VST-2.4.1.490alpha, and no longer experience the issue; so my question is - should this be considered the latest release, or are you still working on it before releasing officially?

I desperately want to add this vst to my arsenal. Congratulations on a fantastic sounding synth!

Many thanks.

Please consider 490 the latest stable release. It seems quite stable to me. There may be some issues reported in some hosts, due to multithreading when multiple instances play simultaneously.

Unfortunately I don't have too much time in the near future to retest or add new features... so I can't really tell now when the next VST release will be.

Hi Jackoo,
i am doing some test for the "Zyn_VDX_VST-2.4.1.490alpha" and the "ZynAddSubFX-VDX_VST-2.4.1.480beta" using Jeskola Buzz, Reaper and Hermann Seib VSTHost.
It is about 15 days that i am doing some tests and everything works very well, no crash here.
I am working on a notebook Compaq nx8220, 1,5 GBRam, cpu pentium M 1,8GHz, win xp sp3.
Thanks 1K for this your great efforts on ZynAddSubFx VSTi.

The wrapper included is VstHost by hermannseib (http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm), a free host program that can act as a sub VST host, to isolate zyn and keep zyn's UI in a separate process.

I used an older version 1.37, because i've seen this as most stable for zyn. There were some issues with the newer version.

If you have the VstHost 1.37 version could you please provide a download link, because I can't find the older version of VstHost on the creator's website?

Please look on the first page of this tread;

Download an earlier version of the VST say 420. That archive also includes under the folder 'wrapper' your desired version of VSTHost.

After that, I think you can use that version of VSTHost with the latest version of the ZynAddSubFX VST (490)

But note that the suggestion to use a wrapper for another host DAW is outdated. You should use Zyn VST directly in your host. Unless you want to use VSTHost as the main host.

Just wanted to thank you sooooo much jackoo for your effort to make "Zyn" work properly with Windows VST hosts. There's been some attempts before, but not as successful as yours. I'm using v2.4.1.476 in Reaper and EnergyXT 1.4.1, and hoping to see Zyn finally work stably. So far - so good. Sooo good. NO crash of any kind. :)

I would also like to thank you so much for implementing multiple outputs in Zyn! Now it's far more usable for us who like to process their sounds with external plugins. 16 of them! Marvellous! :) Zyn is becoming a serious workhorse VSTi this way for me. It was always its sound that drew me back to it, but now it's the whole synth. Great!

The only thing I find kinda weird with it is that it has to read its config file from c:\ZynAddSubFX directory. Why can't it read it from it's own dir? ;) Wouldn't it be more convenient, especially for "portable people"? ;).

Thank you!! Cheers!

Ok, thank you. I'll just use Zyn directly and leave the wrapper as a last resort.
