DarkStar wrote:If SSD EX shows the same problem then I would not think that it is the download. What happens if you select "Reload all samples" in the Purge drop-down menu?
The same thing does not happen with either SSD EX, Infinte Player, or the Kontakt Factory Selection. No red exclamation or problems in any of those libraries. What I said was is that some instruments (in SSD EX) stay lighted at the middle led (don't know if they ever turn white, but eiher way no problems with the kits).

If I select reload all samples (KH PRS), nothing happens. If I select reload all samples after playing a key, then it stops responding, shuts down Reaper as always.

I still wonder about the RAM usage.

When I load Reaper and Kontakt windows task manager reads 500mb.
I load CB2 trumpets and purge all samples.
I load CB2 Trombones and purge all samples.
I load CB2 French horns and purge all samples.

There are no samples loaded.
Task manager reads 1.28 GB.

What is using 780mb?

3 empty instruments take up 780mb.

@ P.T.
Maybe Kontakt is hanging on to used memory, to save requesting it again?

Have you another library that you can try the same test with?

@ musicalwarmth812

Sorry, I got confused.

As I understand it the orange /yellow middle LED indicates that not all the samples have been loaded.

I sometimes run Kontakt in Purge mode and when the middle LED is lit, then some of the keys will not sound. I need to "Reload all samples" or "Update samples"

Pop/Rock Strings stretches some samples, whereas Concert Strings II does not. The only thing that Pop/Rock Strings has that CSII doesn't have is a short disco note effect (remember, PRS is aimed specifically at Pop/Rock music). This page compares the two libraries: http://www.kirkhunterstudios.com/compare_cs2_prs.html

2. While Concert Strings II and Concert Brass II are more sophisticated than Concert Strings I and Concert Brass I, I would not say that Concert Strings I and Concert Brass I are "obsoleted" by CSII and CBII. Yes, a lot of people buy Diamond and CSII and CBII specifically because no single library has it all and the libraries sound different, which provides with a greater sonic pallet to choose from.
Many thanks for your answer eDrummist: you made me buy Dimond as well ;-)

I am curious and would really like to know how many new customers Kirk Hunter Studios won with this Group buy. I think this offer has really changed the game in the Hobbyist samples-libraries market: something like the "Fair pricing" policy proposed by Cockos or Myriad Software.

Is the Piccolo in Diamond special in any way? It can't play a couple notes that the Kontakt VSL counterpart can. I'm just wondering; maybe it's a different type of Piccolo.

Same with the Violin.

Okay, then I made a nice photoshop image to elaborate on my question, this time with the Violin:

Maybe these questions have already been answered but I couldn't find them as there are so many pages to go through.

Q1: I have no experience programming strings so I am inclined to go for Pop, Rock Strings because it's supposed to be easier to program/use. Is this the case or is there not much difference between it and the Concert Strings 2 in terms of ease of use? IOW why is Concert Strings 2 harder to use?

Q2: Are the strings in the Diamond bundle any easier to use than PRS? I like the idea of having a full orchestra but don't know if it will be overwhelming to program/use. Also 65GB is massive and might take me 10 years to download! :-o

AKJ wrote:Hi,

as it seems, the same bug with IntervaLive as in the Diamond Woodwinds is also present in the Diamond Solo Brass instruments and in the Diamond Studio Brass instruments (VPro versions). The TVEC versions of the Studio Brass seem ok, but in the Solo Brass there are no TVEC versions and TVEC3 does not feature all instruments, so an update is really needed. I hope we get it as fast as with the woodwinds.

cheers, akj
so can others confirm that bug?

I've installed the GB Pop Rock Strings. Sound all good, but it gives me TVEC II.

Shouldn't TVEC III be included in the GB ?

The link of the TVC III instruments is at the bottom of the downloads page that you got after purchasing. You can recreate the link using your receipt number. If I'm not mistaken it's something like:

with Concert Strings 2 you have more articulations than in PRS but that shouldn't necessarily make Concert Strings 2 more difficult to use than PRS. you would simply have more to work with

TVEC 3 makes things easier. with PRS it also adds versatility. i bought Solo Strings 2 (part of Concert Strings 2) and i don't find them any more difficult than PRS

i don't have Diamond so i can't answer Q2

Thanks so much for your reply. Is PRS more versatile than solo strings? A sort of cut down version of Concert Strings 2. I think I'll only need them for dance and maybe the occasional ambient song which I hope PRS will cover. I can't see myself programming a full midi orchestra so perhaps the Diamond bundle will be a bit OTT for my use.

PRS includes whole, half, quarter and solo divisions, but it's a lite version of Concert Strings 2 (some samples are stretched)

Solo Strings 2 is part of Concert Strings 2 so every note is sampled, no stretching

for dance and ambient i would recommend PRS

I've been patient, but would anyone be able to explain why the ranges of playable notes are different between Diamond and VSL Kontakt, and why the pitch bend doesn't seem to work when set to the down position?

Maybe it's all supposed to be this way, but I'd like to make it a certainty.

EDIT: Any chance you could add those few notes? I actually composed a song in which the violin reaches a note one tone below the Diamond range.

I found one solution to a "missing samples" issue. This may be old news by now but, just in case...

This post from another forum solved my "missing samples" problem. Don't know if there are others but I haven't come across any. I emailed Kirk about it Friday or Saturday so he may have already fixed it.
