I started playing with this plugin at around 10:00 last night and before I knew it the clock had struck 3:00am. I love this thing. I recorded this Springsteen cover using liberal amounts of UberMod ( I don't think The Boss has to worry about me stealing his thunder). I could just sit and mess with this thing for ages, very inspirational.

would be cool to try and emulate the Lennon voice double effect with this great plug.

Code: Select all

<ValhallaUberMod pluginVersion="1.0.0" presetName="DistantFrontline" Mix="1" Depth="1" StereoWidth="0.746500015" Delay="0" Feedback="0.992999971" Spread="0" Slope="0.5" Skew="0.5" Random="0" TapGain="0.5" Diffusion="0.617999971" DiffSize="1" DiffModRate="0.537537515" DiffModDepth="0.551999986" LowCut="0" HighCut="0.180402011" SpatialXover="0.603015065" DetuneRate="0" DetuneDepth="1" VibratoRate="0.314285725" VibratoDepth="0" OverMod="1" DriveInGain="0.25" DriveOutGain="0.75" DriveNoiseGain="0.768888891" FeedbackRotate="1" SmoothingTime="0.0307307299" ColorMode="1" DelaySync="0" type="0.375" DiffEnable="1" Drive="1" DrivePrePost="1" Speed="1"/>

this makes use of excellent diffuser and the overmod trick. allows making dark ambient with cutlery and cardboard boxes :)
i'm not able to select DualEnsable and 16TapPhase modes from dropdown menu. Ubermod either selects the mode above them right out, or reverts to it when any control is touched. (WinXP32 SP2, Reaper4, Ubermod demo)
also, i'd like to +1 to adding a control/divider to synced modes. lack of such feature puts some damper on my love outburst for the plugin ;)

Has anyone whipped up some Dimension D type sounds/presets, including the different button combinations?

I can confirm this bug. I also found the bug in Live running in WinXP32, SP2. I'll see what is going on. Not sure why this would only show up in XP, but I'm used to these sort of weird XP-localized bugs.

edit: i see 1/phi for diffusion behaves like in shimmer :)

Not quite the same math going on under the hood.

The Diffusion parameter in ValhallaShimmer maps directly to the allpass delay coefficients, so a Diffusion setting of 0.618 will result in allpass coefficients of 0.618.

The 0%-100% range in ValhallaÜberMod is mapped to a 0.0-0.75 allpass coefficient range, as I use a much different spread of allpass delay lengths in ÜberMod than in ValhallaShimmer, and allpass coefficients higher than 0.75 sounded really bad in ÜberMod. The math needed to get an internal allpass coefficient of 1/phi is left as an exercise to the reader. Although a setting of 82.4% is probably a good starting point.

ValhallaRoom doesn't use allpass delays for its diffusion section, so the above discussion doesn't apply to that plugin.

Informative and helpful. cheers :)

I thin that the math is: multiply the desired allpass coefficient by 1.333.

For example, the Bloom reverbs on the Alesis Midiverb II probably used an allpass coefficient of 0.5, due to the architecture of that system (where multipliers were avoided). This translates to a Diffusion value in ÜberMod of 66.7%.

Here's a 1/phi reverb, with a slow attack and long decay:

Code: Select all

<ValhallaUberMod pluginVersion="1.0.0" presetName="BigBloomReverb" Mix="0.458000004" Depth="0.577000022" StereoWidth="0.5" Delay="0.0251000002" Feedback="0.5" Spread="0" Slope="0.5" Skew="0.5" Random="0" TapGain="0.5" Diffusion="0.824000001" DiffSize="1" DiffModRate="0.0490490496" DiffModDepth="0.5" LowCut="0" HighCut="0.34020099" SpatialXover="0.145728648" DetuneRate="0.0490490496" DetuneDepth="0.5" VibratoRate="0.298245579" VibratoDepth="0" OverMod="0" DriveInGain="0.375" DriveOutGain="0.616666675" DriveNoiseGain="0.333333343" FeedbackRotate="1" SmoothingTime="0.0990990996" ColorMode="0" DelaySync="0" type="0" DiffEnable="1" Drive="0" DrivePrePost="0" Speed="1"/>
Mind you, with the multitap architecture of ÜberMod, you can get MUCH longer attacks for reverbs:

Code: Select all

<ValhallaUberMod pluginVersion="1.0.0" presetName="LongAttackReverb" Mix="0.458000004" Depth="0.189999998" StereoWidth="0.486000001" Delay="1" Feedback="0.620000005" Spread="1" Slope="0" Skew="0.0199999996" Random="0.592000008" TapGain="0.5" Diffusion="1" DiffSize="0.806122422" DiffModRate="0.0490490496" DiffModDepth="0.5" LowCut="0" HighCut="0.395979911" SpatialXover="0.145728648" DetuneRate="0.145145148" DetuneDepth="0.56400001" VibratoRate="0.298245579" VibratoDepth="0" OverMod="0" DriveInGain="0.375" DriveOutGain="0.75" DriveNoiseGain="0.333333343" FeedbackRotate="0.5" SmoothingTime="0.0990990996" ColorMode="0" DelaySync="0.0588235296" type="0.375" DiffEnable="1" Drive="0" DrivePrePost="1" Speed="1"/>

one doesn't even have to ask to receive :D
i'm your humble servant, truly. between flexible saturation in the feedback path, allowing for infinite soundscapes, an excellent allpass diffusor, and uberflexible mod delays (the OverMod trick itself is worth a separate plugin) this is just a mind-boggling tool. if only it had shut up, shut up, shut up!
