Thanks for the comments.

This one was written, 8 or 9 years ago. It's been recorded twice previously, but on a BOSS multitracker. This version is the first 'live drummer, vst/vsti treatment' of the song.

The lyrics are partly about a famous televangelist who; as the story goes, back in the day used his father's clout to get out of having to serve in Korea. Fast forward a few decades and he becomes a big war hawk.

The thing is; these lyrics could probably stand a good rewrite. Ideally, it's really not my place to call anybody out about anything. I look at these here lyrics, and cringe at how it's like i'm riding some moral high horse; which is no longer warranted (even if it ever were).

Also, it would probably do me well to better rehearse vocal lines before recording them. I think of a piece like Princess Singer, and how it developed over time. The thing is, i throw these pieces out there half-baked, just in case they never get 'finished'. At least with the half-baked versions, there's something (rather than nothing). Plus, the improvisational vocal technique has its own charm. (ymmv)

That, and the mix could probably use some more work. So, it's a work in progress; but it's great to hear that some people have enjoyed it in the meantime.

I've got some more ideas for the keyboard riff. That, and getting the keys and guitar to sit well together is the next stage. Also, getting the bass to be better defined is another part of it...

yada yada... happy solstice... happy holidays... merry christmas, happy hanukkah, happy kwanzaa and all of that...

Recognizable within two seconds, there's mad drive into it, more like 1040 BPM... happy Hannukah, yeah!

Very enjoyable. I found this to be highly entertaining and educational. I gave Google and Wikipedia a quick workout afterwards! :)

new lyrics:

reptiles and aliens
not to mention amphibians
feathered sybian libertines
outer space marines

drive that ship and drive it deep
never for the fortunate weep
it's all in the asking
there's no fun in telling

sleestak invasion of the dream
internet memes obscure the themes
dandy preacher creature feature
mammaries of intern teacher

flora fauna snake in grass
powder through the hourglass
fleeting moment of potent desire
universal ultraviolet fire

half and half on cereal
whipping cream commercial
eating fruits and vegetables
strawberry smoothie constable

Good stuff. I only heard the newer version, so I can't say if it is better stuff than it was. I can say it sounds good, though. Your mixes are sounding better than ever lately. I enjoyed this. Thanks.
