Land of Lowered Expectations
Ogg Vorbis
...featuring boomaga on drums (Creative Commons)
our dreams were left at the station
as we left for the land
of lowered expectations
were we waylaid in fantasyland
there blinded by the gilded transit
of the candyman
were we messed over by the ride
or was it our age old pride
the crafts which are not sunken
are lifted by the high tides
if you were everything
you said everyone else were
would you be more careful
with your choosing of words?
are they finished with their diminished state
believers say paradise is but a prayer away
breaking through is what they need to do
phantasmic glimmer of the weathered fools
he passed on the chocolate chip cookie
but settled for rice krispy treats
could have had a pizza with all the toppings
but went for the cheese
we must break through
to forge a better tomorrow
breaking through is hard to do
whispered one of the biggest of tools
jump this ship of fools
break on through
(edit) thanks for the comments!
at the risk of being presumptuous: with this one, i was going for a 'black sabbath' meets post-modern 'heavy rock' type of guitar part, with maybe some vocals a bit like a cross between ozzy and lane staley. the 'all right now' thing was copped from ozzy; maybe off of sweet leaf?
of course, this one definitely doesn't have bill ward on drums, but the drum track seems to fit the rest of it so, boomaga 'for the win'...
the sort of 'bell sound' with the kick was an accidental result of playing with tonebooster's time machine. after stumbling upon it, an lfo was added to provide some variation.

Something a bit different, good, glitch-grunge, a tune for the coming times...

I like the sound of this one a lot, broken things playing nicely (and sometimes wrasslin') together. Good stuff. Thanks, mrblitz000.
