Yes. It's working fine. I've never had such a time installing a VSTi, and I'm still not at all sure what went wrong, but it's working, so I'll get back to having some fun with it!

Hopefully it's worth it! And Urs chimed in earlier saying he's going to rework the installer to be easier next year. Hopefully the next time you install it'll be easy.

btw I also complained to Cakewalk about the issue, and they wrote back an e-mail telling me to install the latest version, which I had already told them was installed
When you think about it, it's a pretty radical idea to give basic keystrokes - the letters of the alphabet - to functions. Pretty much makes typing text impossible unless the "give keystrokes to vst" button actually works!

Which is why it absolutely should. Do they think people are going to be using VST synths in the product and not care to efficiently name presets, or what? I think it is pretty thoughtless.Gonga wrote:btw I also complained to Cakewalk about the issue, and they wrote back an e-mail telling me to install the latest version, which I had already told them was installed

I got a email back from Cakewalk support after telling them how the preset naming works fine in Sonar 8.5. This is what they said,
"Hi Paul,
I personally managed the CWBRN reports related to this issue. Something working in 8.5 and not working in X1 is never as cut and dry as that. I'm not saying it might not be a SONAR X1 issue, I'm just saying that more info is needed and the issue is still pending at this time. It has been forwarded to the correct department I just unfortunately don't have any additional information at this time."
In my opnion, Cakewalk may care about this issue but it sure appears that it is not a priority, since they do not have reports of other third party plugins with this problem. I am not totally convinced the problem is U-HE plugins or X1.

It's very annoying - I never use key commands but there doesn't seem to be any way to turn them off or even edit them in SonarGonga wrote:btw I also complained to Cakewalk about the issue, and they wrote back an e-mail telling me to install the latest version, which I had already told them was installed

Well he didn't "personally manage" the reports very well if:zbpc1 wrote:I got a email back from Cakewalk support after telling them how the preset naming works fine in Sonar 8.5. This is what they said,

a) he never came back to the reporters for more information if that is what he needed, and didn't even keep us updated (they even made my report impossible to add further information - effectively closing it to me)
b) he doesn't know what has happened with them since passing the buck to another department.

I'm having the same problem with Sonar X1 and TyrellN6. It's not possible to name presets without the Sonar shortcuts being activated. I don't have the Keyboard Icon either that should allow keystrokes to pass on to the plugin. It was there in Sonar 8.5 but not in X1. Can't seem to find a way to get it back. Any ideas?
(Maybe they just removed it since reading here it seems it long longer worked?)

The problem is their reporting system is useless. There is no possibility to have any sort of dialogue with their devs and they don't send you updates. This is my original report:Urs wrote:Please keep bugging Cakewalk on this. They need to fix it on their end.
but they have made it so that I can't update itProblem Report Status
Report Details CWBRN-5808
Product: SONAR Studio
Version: X1C
Status: Submitted To Development
Summary: Sonar steals keystrokes from all U-he plugins
Description:
Insert u-he plugin (e.g. Zebra 2, ACE, Tyrell no 6)
Click "save as" to save preset
Try and type into text box that appears - it just sends keystrokes to Sonar, even with "send all keystrokes to plugin" enabled
Expected Results: Should be able to enter text into text boxes
Actual Results: Keystrokes sent to Sonar not the plugin I can reproduce this with all u-he plugins (http://www.u-he.com/cms/): Zebra 2.5 ACE Tyrell no.6 Filterscape MFM2 Uhbik I am running the latest release versions of these and have updated Sonar to the last patch release (X1C) Note this problem has been reported by multiple Zebra users already so it is not specific to my system
Provided Specs:
Audio 1: Native Instruments
Audio 2: Kore
Driver Mode: ASIO
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Reproducibility: Reproducible
and the original email I have from them confirming my report is a "no reply" address - stupid annoying system. The current status of your report does not allow new messages to be sent or files to be uploaded

I've resubmitted it to get their attention

The workaround is to have Notepad open and write them in that, then use copy/ctrl v into the text fields in the plugin. A bit of a pain but it worksTeksonik wrote:I'm having the same problem with Sonar X1 and TyrellN6. It's not possible to name presets without the Sonar shortcuts being activated. Thanks. I was on the Z3TA+ 2 beta team so maybe I can get their attention from the Beta forum. It's worth a shot I guess. Until then the Note Pad copy/paste solution will have to do............Urs wrote:Please keep bugging Cakewalk on this. They need to fix it on their end.

Ok I've posted the issue on the Z2 beta forum. There hasn't been any activity for quite a while but at least the actual developers post there so maybe one will see it.......slim chance but worth a shot.
