Hi,
Can someone please tell me where I can hear demos of Concert Strings 1
I am looking at getting the Diamond Orchestra Bundle but cannot tell what that will sound like, it would actually be great to hear the 'version 1s' of any of the elements to be honest
Cheers

Well by all means help the guy above me first, but I won't be able to buy Concert Brass II alongside Concert Strings II as originally planned. Therefore it would be really nice if all f the problems with Diamond's brass could be resolved. From what I recall:
-some of the woodwinds have trumpet/brass samples for some reason
-some of the instruments are missing articulations- specifically the Diamond TVEC 3.1 Trumpet. There's a "New Trumpet" with the extra articulation buttons, but it has no sound. I'm sure there are a couple more instruments with similar minor problems.
OH: and in addition to Concert Woodwinds II and Percussion, it would be nice if you could add some programmable string runs for quick phrases- sort of like what Vienna Symphonic Library and LASS have.
I know this is another company that provides such tools:
http://www.orchestraltools.com/index.ph ... &Itemid=87
I'd love to have a similar technology integrated with the Kirk Hunter Strings sound!
EDIT: Skank, the best thing is do is compare Solo Strings I (from Diamond) to Solo Strings II (from Concert Strings II).

You can check the kirkhunterstudios.com website and click on demos, you can also check the Customer Demo Contest thread in this forum and the Kirk Hunter Studios Group Buy thread for more, but here's the recently released theme from (the actual theme, not someone recreating it) Captain America: Sentinel Of Liberty game soundtrack by David A. Logan -- so if you've ever heard this before, you heard Diamond strings and brass in action, same for the main theme and most of the cues for Ugly Betty.skank wrote:Hi,

thanks for the reply, apologies in advance but can I confirm the strings used were Convert Strings 1 (as opposed to 2). I am really trying to work out the combinations,
Also for example I would like to know
1. Is Concert brass 2 is contained in Diamond bundle?
2. Woodwinds, are they available separately other than in Diamond?
This isn't what you think.

I believe "no" is the answer to both of those questions unfortunately.

Diamond contains Concert Strings I. Concert Strings II is from a recent session. Consequently, the two libraries sound a bit different, so a lot artists/composers like to get both.skank wrote:Hi eDrummist,eDrummist wrote:You can check the kirkhunterstudios.com website and click on demos, you can also check the Customer Demo Contest thread in this forum and the Kirk Hunter Studios Group Buy thread for more, but here's the recently released theme from (the actual theme, not someone recreating it) Captain America: Sentinel Of Liberty Soundtrack by David A. 1. Concert Brass II is NOT part of Diamond. Concert Brass II came out in the Summer of 2011, whereas Diamond has been around since, I think 2007.Concert Brass II is a more extensively sampled library, much the same as Concert Strings II is to Concert Strings I (in Diamond).
2. Woodwinds are not available separately.
Just to make sure you're aware, the Group Buy sale is ending and prices go back up Jan 2. Concert Strings II will again be $799 USD, Concert Brass II will be $349 USD and Diamond will be $549 USD. Basically, the price of Diamond on the Group Buy is only $137.25 USD a bit more than the regular price of Solo Strings I (the solo strings part of Concert Strings I, which is the string section in Diamond), which lists at $99 USD. In a nutshell, until Jan 2, 2012, you can pick up Diamond, Concert Brass II and Concert Strings II for ($424.25 USD) far less than the list price of Diamond.

Some of the brass in Diamond actually has backgrounds with the label "Concert Brass II". Why is this?

My guess - they are cut-down versions of the CB Ii instruments.synchronizer wrote:Some of the brass in Diamond actually has backgrounds with the label "Concert Brass II". Why is this?
Which ones did you find, specifically?

I would check with Kirk on that. Diamond came out around 2007 as far as I know. Concert Brass II was only released in the Summer of 2011. Consequently, Concert Brass II wasn't even recorded when Diamond was released. Something isn't right.DarkStar wrote:My guess - they are cut-down versions of the CB Ii instruments.synchronizer wrote:Some of the brass in Diamond actually has backgrounds with the label "Concert Brass II". Hold on, I'm taking a screen or two.
EDIT:
(Trombone) http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/7201/cbiiwhat2.png
(Trumpet) http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/552/cbiiwhatv.png
Also, notice the folder under the trombones labeled "New Samples"? The instrument contained in the folder does not produce sound, but the flutter and rip buttons are active. The Trumpet does not have flutter or rip active at all.
If possible, would Kirk be able to rectify both of these points? I will be unable to purchase Concert Brass II, so I'll have to rely on Diamond Brass. Therefore, it would be extremely beneficial to me, as well as others, if Diamond were optimized as much as possible. Thank you very much.

I haven't had much time to really get into anything complex, however, I just finished writing a short duet for my young niece for her birthday that her and her brother can learn together. They're just beginning their musical eduacation so it's a very simple 32 bar etude of sorts to introduce them to syncopation, the use of naturals in notating, and false cadences. Simple stuff. I used the solo violin from CSII and solo clarinet from Diamond whilst doing so and also to record an example for them to listen to as they learn the piece.
There was nothing in these samples to distract me from just sitting down and knocking out a quick piece in a couple of hours. Solo instruments are so difficult to emulate and poor quality examples are a distraction but right "out of the box" I was able to get sounds that allowed me to concentrate on writing instead of tweaking.
Not very impressive, perhaps, for those looking to score to picture but composing at every level requires quality tools in order to concentrate on the job at hand whether it's an etude for one's niece or the magnum opus to a client's short film or industrial home improvement video.

That's how I felt when I used solo violin from CSII to play my contest entry; it was the first time I used it and it was very playable out of the box. I'm curious about diamond orchestra but I think I'll discover in a short time
The solo romantic violin demo on the site sounds very good and my original idea approaching Kirk's libraries was to buy this solo instrument. Then came the group buy, the contest, the addicting ....

My question to you both is how you found the instrument so easy to play? Don't you have to go back and utilize key switches? I'm a little bit confused because I'm not finding it quite as easy to use "out of the box" all.
I also hope my concerns above can be addressed.
Can someone compare Concert Brass II's sound/quality to that of the Diamond Brass?
